lmao they're paying incorrect disposal now.

Umps gave us a couple now have gone full GWS must win.

Typical Melbourne as favourites performance so far

Absolute joke.

They are useless. They don’t rewrite the rules differently each week

Our kicking for goal is putrid.

But the umpiring is worse.

They can make all the rule changes they want, but I want to see star midfielders play without being flattened off the play too.

We had our opportunities and didn't capitalise. GWS gifted goals either through umpires or poor defense. A bit more polish and control of the play and things can turn quickly. We are playing right into their hands though.

That number 22 umpire always burns us

Looks like someone put Ken in the microwave

For me, this is the difference between us and the serious contenders: Oliver had two straightforward shots on goal, Gawn one, Kozzie a fairly straightforward one - not a single goal from any of them.

On top of that kicking into the forward line. ANB misses Tom MacD by a metre, turnover, up the other end, goal.

Lots of positives, but it's this inability to finish that costs us.

Yep and they have given him 2 chances at goal and he has botched both.

Put Oliver in the bloody forwards line.

very ordinary bunch ,seem happy to just show pony ,that means you oliver ,tmac runs under the ball every time, fritter not trying to grab the ball ,shocking

This commentary is just down right bogan...

When you think warning signs, you think that quarter.

Ball spends heaps of time in our forward half but inefficiency and missed set shots mean we don’t capitalise. They break fast and score 6 times from 11 inside 50s.

I do not like the look of this.

Tbere were a lot of back slappers last week when we came back after being challenged let's see if this team really does have the right stuff

I thought we got out coached that quarter, so it will be interesting to see the response. They don’t want to kick it long as we have Lever, May and Gawn behind the play.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
