No change, the right call.

Perryman out for GWS with illness, hes a good player.

Perryman is a massive out. Sam Reid being suspended as well.

Well that was worth the wait.

I know they don't usually line up as selected but seeing Jones on the wing is the stuff of nightmares.

I suspect they just wanted to name him in the 18, reward for his much-improved game last week.

The back six (May, Lever, Tomlinson, Hunt, Salem, Jetta) and forward six (TMac, Jackson, Fritsch, ANB, Pickett and Spargo) are settled. Langdon, Petracca, Oliver and Viney all get their midfield spots. So there's the last wing, which is probably where Jordon or Brayshaw start the game, or Jones gets named on the bench.

In other words, it's signalling more than anything I suspect.

Good call by selectors. Reward those that have got us to 2 and zip. Make the others work even harder if they want a game. Turn up with correct attitude tomorrow and we should be 3 and zip as we seem to have them covered in most, if not all areas of ground. That little rough nut (Toby Greene) is only one that worries me.

Who’s the sub? Baker again?

One of the four emergencies, sons.  It will be either Melksham, Hibberd, Petty or Chandler.

Baker, although not getting a run last week, is omitted from this week's squad.

Right decision to maintain the same 22. There will come times when form wains or injuries occur that will create opportunities for those that are ready to take them. I suggest Milkshake will be sub being he offers the most versatility.

Good call IMO. Opportunities will likely come during the season for Melksham and Hibberd but not right now.

I hope so. Especially for Hibberd who haa been an outstanding player for us. More so than a few currently selected is all I say.

2 wins...I understand no change. Go Dees.

I wonder, I’m glad they’ve sent Baker back to Casey. No need to keep him with the sun with no match practice (though I think there’s no matches this weekend!). Either way it’s good to get someone else in the sub role, I reckon Hibberd or Melksham should go in there.

No change is the best thing for the team.

Neville Jetta has had 9 possies in each of the last two games and has gained a total of 7 metres. Interesting stat.

He's also rated 'elite' for defensive one on ones, one percenters and disposal efficiency, as well as 'above average' for spoils and contested marks.

Interesting stats also.

Also, according to the AFL website, he's gained 31 metres this year. (Not that that's anything to write home about of course).

My guess is the coaches don’t judge his performance on either of those stats.  I thought he looked too slow pre-season but his pressure has been good first two games.

Neville “the blanket” Jetta.

Any other year I reckon Melksham and Hibberd come straight in. No working off past performances anymore.
I like this from Goodwin and the match committee. Make them earn their spot.

Has his direct opponent kicked any goals on him? that's the stat i'd like to know.

Anyone else see Lever limp off in the third quarter? He landed awkwardly after a contest and then immediately raised his hand to the bench. Everyone around me noticed it as well. He came off for maybe 10 minutes then returned.

Anyway point of my story is that I'm glad it's unchanged because I anticipated potentially a rest for him.

Anyway I don't have a newsletter you can subscribe to but if you want more my hot takes I'm pretty active throughout the season.

Every team needs a gun defensive player who competes well in one on ones. This is especially important with the pace and space  the ball is being moved  in. 50/50 wins are great and so are the 50/50 spoils to ground.

I like the unchanged team call also.

Hope we play well, the hindsight police will be waiting if not....

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
