Absolutely shattering news.  The youngster must be feeling so down. Hope his teammates get around him and ex players like Schwartz reach out to him.

Sloane? Not one of our players!

3 knee reco's I would think he might find it difficult to get back. Good luck

Absolutely devastated for the kid.

  • Demonland changed the title to 3rd ACL for Aaron Nietschke

Horrible news. Seems his body wasn’t made for professional footy. He’ll struggle to make it back now you’d think. As horrible as it is, it’s not wise for a club to use a list spot for 4 years on a lateish draft pick who can’t get on the park.

Feel sad for the kid!

Try again Picket

That is truly a bitter pill for young Aaron to swallow, how devastated must he feel, he can't take a trick.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awful news for him.

The new list rules do provide some relief for all involved. We can replace him for this year, and next year we can possibly invite him to train with the group until he’s fully rehabbed and beyond. It’s too early for those decisions but we can do the right thing by him.

Sorry, but I have no interest in AFLW hence the lack of knowledge about our women personel. I hope she recovers well.

Sorry but with respect PF it's been Well publicised in photos and all over our website Plus D/L posts really pretty hard to ignore or miss.'

Really  bad Luck again  for Aaron Hope he can recover and play again.

I'm absolutely gutted for the kid.  Nobody deserves that sort of luck. Bloody hard, but 'keep your head up' Aaron.

very cruel bad luck, gotta feel for the guy

realistically it's probably the end of his afl career

Ok, it might well have been well docoed and all, but honestly I have iterated my postion and so lets leave it at that. I trust, however both players make speedy recoveries.

Sad news.

Have many/any players made it back from three ACLs like this? Morabito, maybe?

You'd have to think the odds aren't great.

Hopefully the club looks after him through 2021 and maybe considers giving him another shot in the 2021/22 off-season, if there is a spot available.

alex johnson of sydney and dan menzel both did to some extent

Not just 3 ACLs, but all in the pre-seasons of his first 3 seasons as a pro. Poor guy only got a chance to play a quarter of a scratch match in his time in the AFL, that’s awful luck.

Good luck to him, whether that’s another crack at it, or something else post playing footy.

Devastating for the bloke. He has gotta be thinking - is his body up to the rigors of AFL if he cant get through preseasons.

Good friend of Nathan Lyon

The curse continues... unfortunate for the young fella but a common occurrence over many decades at Demonland

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
