I don’t understand why we rushed to give him 5 years when he has so many ongoing foot issues.
There is no doubt he’s an important part of our team and we are worse off defensively in clearances when he isn’t playing. But he hasn’t had an injury free season for a long long time, and that doesn’t appear to be changing.
It’s a real concern that he can’t get over the foot problems.

It is a real concern that he won't be giving heaps of mongrel to Cripps this weekend.

And we signed him for 5 years with known previous foot/ ankle issues. Even if its not related its a very worrying sign IMV

And I quote again!!

Worrying stuff.  Is Chunk up to covering as an extra rotation  for short stints off the bench?  Probably not eh.

Alternatively chunk shares the wing role with Gus who spends a bit of time in the middle to assist with rotations?

More time in the middle for LJ who is pretty good and mobile at ground level for a big man?

Like Deaver, ideally i still feel we are short one very good classy mid fielder.  Would have loved to have landed Tom Green in the draft but you can't select everybody.

Time to start training Chandler how to apply mongrel within the rules.

5 year contract was definitely to long for Jack Viney

You dont say!  As Mark Neeld woyld say...

NEVER SAW THAT COMIN!

So much for 2-3 weeks.

Having let the bone heal and gradually increased his loading, Viney said he plans to resume running on Tuesday and is confident he will be back to face the Magpies in five weeks’ time in round 13, in what has become the annual FightMND Big Freeze fundraiser led by inspirational former Demons coach Neale Daniher.

There is a positive in this, we are in a really strong position at 8-0 to play a few more games without Viney and have a bit more depth through guys like James Jordon who are playing very well getting a game. We know what Viney brings in big games snd don't need 22 games from him, we need him fit enough to play and make it through finals. He's the sort of player than can have 6 weeks off, come straight back into a big game and be best on ground.

Oh for god sake. ?

Good opportunity for Sparrow to get some senior midfield time if we need another tough inside mid

Do we know if Weideman broke his finger? ?

It took 3 attempts!

Agree gives Weid his opportunity fwd/Ruck.

That’s a big shame,  Max’s form has been down the past couple of weeks and now he’s without his apprentice.

Will miss his ruck craft. Weid might offer more up forward, but Dogga is our most effective ruckman at the moment.

If we need to give Weid his opportunity... here it is!

... but, if we need to switch like for like, its Majak

Richmond players go to nightclubs and get into drunken fights: broken wrist

Melbourne players carry little old ladies' groceries to the car: sore finger

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • POSTGAME: Richmond

The Dees ran another clinic for the second week in a row as they easily accounted for the Tigers in the lightning interrupted shortened match at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
