Wondering if our main training session is today as we usually have it 3 days before a match with a light run the day before the game.

Anyone know if training is on today?

Rightio.

Cripps has been playing with a sore back which every club has known about since round 1. Haven't seen anyone target his back.

Jack Viney's foot?

Not sure your view adds up.

It’s as old as the hills, targeting someone’s Achilles heel, if you will. No matter the body part, dirty opposition players will find a way.

Isn't it usually 2 days prior? Meaning that it will be on tomorrow?

We don’t know it’s a groin. We actually don’t know anything.

We also don’t know what Oliver is likely carrying, what Gawn is clearly carrying, how Goodwin’s mental health is, and where Burgo is with his decision for next year.

You should write the club a strongly worded letter requesting a status update, and be sure to let us know what you learn.

I could be wrong dd but I always thought it was 3 days prior. Last weeks main session was on the Wednesday.

Dare I say that the club isn’t keeping the supporters in the dark.

Instead they aren’t letting every opposition club know what’s wrong with one of our most important players, and therefore how to target him.

And target him, they will!

Consider it operational security. Why divulge information the oppo can plan around? It's not hard to understand, surely.

Don't think he was injured, just ran out of peroxide and refused to go on deck without his highlights.

I demand to see all his personal medical records!

Not trying to be funny, asking a serious medical question: what actually goes wrong with a groin? And how does it get fixed?

Here is what the good folk at Web MD have to say. *

There may be 100 reasons why they don't want others to know about a players injury.

Let them do their job.

Exactly. We will find out in due course whether or not he's available and if not, how long he's out for. I don't see why it's pressingly urgent for the entire membership to know the gory details of his injury, on a Tuesday afternoon.

I usually just give it a bit of a rub and it's fine after that

Targeting a groin would be a new level of low.

Hooray! One of our best and most important players this year. Big addition to the team for our biggest game yet.

Viney still 2-3 weeks. I think the person who suggested he's had a setback is correct.

Bad news if true. Our midfield has dropped off big time since he went down injured. Over the past month statistically we’ve gone from a clear top 2 team to a middling team grinding out wins (and a loss) against weak opposition.

Viney adds defensive pressure, ball winning ability, and a vocal leader to organize around the ground. His absence is being felt more than it’s being spoken about.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
