2021 Injury List

Featured Replies

Just as concerning is his second concussion in a very short time. If he doesn't show any symptoms in the coming days then he should at least be able to train normally without contact which will at least keep his fitness up until the fracture heals.

Steven, I felt that up on level two !  Get well soon.  You are a critical component of our run to the finals in 2021.  Thank you

(I'm not on instagram)

Pretty sure it was a dead set give away by Goodwin that it will be Petty who comes in.. this whole notion of Daw coming is simply not going to happen.

Seems odd they would say he had an eye socket fracture but only up to a month out.

Must be 4 atleast. Looks like he walked into the path of a Mack truck.

https://www.triplem.com.au/story/tom-stewart-undergoes-successful-surgery-41692

Tom Stewart had surgery in 2017 and missed 3 weeks. If it isn't as major as that it's possible it could just be 2 weeks.

I understand that most people think it was accidental on Hawkins behalf (I’m not so sure given the blokes record) but even if it was unintentional isn’t there some duty of care from Hawkins not to throw a wild elbow? The fact that it no doubt caused concussion plus a head fracture surely he should be up at the tribunal?
Personally I’d give him 3 weeks but that could be because of my Geelong hate

If he's going to be out for at least a few weeks then perhaps the club could investigate bonding adamantium to his bones, the same material used by Wolverine the fictional comic character.

Damn that sucks but there were some suggesting 4-6 or even longer. 2-4 sucks but let’s deal with it and move on, big opportunity for Petty.

As for Hawkins, I think it was an accident though his reckon for cheap shots is well known. I won’t lose sleep if he doesn’t get any weeks for it, kind feel like the momentum for May’s tackle played a big part.

Hibbard may also come in over these weeks (maybe at the expense of Jetta)?

Where we can I am all for playing the younger types. Petty for mine.

Petty is a lock however we may see Hibbard as well (maybe for Jetta) based on his BOG at Casey practice match last weekend). Lockhart another possibility.

The article says he has a fractured eye socket - which involves bone damage (fracture)!

You’d know, looking at your avatar

one small plus is that it should not limit his running and other fitness work.

Perhaps a phantom like mask and he can even join in light contact training in a week or so.

Don't be too believing Pates  what's the bet it slips to 426 next week.

Ouch.  Won't be showing that to the loved one or any and all future children will be barred from playing.

This is a big test for the team and I am glad we managed so well without him in the second half against Geelong. Lever was visibly fired up with the urgency of getting things organised and demanding no silly slips.

It is also things like this that make getting that good early start (Four from four! Always fun to say!) so important.

Huge relief that, ugly as it is, it is only expected to be a short period out.

Hibberd in would be my choice because he has maturity, the good kick, and the intercept awareness to best fit our overall plan.

Like for Like  is best Petty deserves his chance.

If it was Rivers or Salem then Hibbo is fine butneed 2 talls  plus Jake who freelances a bit !

This has not been an MFC diagnosis OD so 2-4 is likely.

Let's get a small in also with Petty Nev has given his best but not a long term proposition.

Which month will May miss?

The month of May of course?

At least 2 matches in APRIL and hopefully none in May!!!

Steven May may or may not miss May, it's hard to say.

I'm not as bullish about our prospects with May out. He's our most important player, and you can't easily replace gun key defenders.

That are nearly as rare as gun KPF's . I agree Tony he leaves a big hole.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

  • VOTES: Richmond

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
