If we have another bad season next year and underperform, i think there is a live possibility Petracca and Oliver both request trades. that's how important 2021 is for the MFC. i hope they're making the right call backing Goodwin in.

Seems logical, I'd believe that 100%

They are the only club that can pull it off.

Makes Jason Taylor's life easy. Won't have to do much research when you can select the entire first round in a draft year.

Come on ben, best player in the comp?

Arguably.

Wouldn’t surprise me if he brings home Charlie in 2021.

Lazy Journalism - MFC have a gun - therefore he will be poached

Insecure MFC supporter - we have a gun player therefore he will leave

Have confidence folks! Lets hold our sht together and have a massive season next year. None of our good players have looked to leave recently, Gawn, Viney, Gus etc. in fact we have attracted players like May who want to come to us

Go Demons

Doesn't help when like so many on here who suffer MFCSS and the sky is always falling listen to BS rumors put on here by posters who claim to have sources telling them stuff.

Yet when you actually check the timing of their posts with BF posts and media stories, that is obviously their source

Wasn't looking at a player comparison,  was just talking talent wise.  Of course LJ isnt a natural forward like those other 3 guys.

LJ blows Grundy out of the water on talent and ability.  Grundy is the most overrated player in the comp imho.. doesn't have any matchwinning ability or X factor. In fact hes bloody boring, unlike LJ who will have people paying to come watch him.

seriously stfu. grundy is a multiple AA. So when will LJ be multiple AA? 3 years? 5? never?

Yes Luke Jackson looks good but Grundy has already reached the top. Jackson isnt even a number 1 ruck! and wont be for several more years.

I’m assuming this is purely a rumour because it would be very disappointing if true. As good as Petracca’s 2020 season was  (and yes he’s only going to get better) he was every bit a classic under performer up until then.

The Sounding Board today Hutchy and Barrett seemed confident Collingwood made their salary dump because they have Petracca "on the hook" for next year's free agency period.

Petracca's just had a birds eye view of how the Pies promise the world then do a runner. Let's hope his manager is also Treloar's or Stephenson's.

How hard is it for a "journalist" like either of those muppets to Google Petracca's contract status before making [censored] up?

What does that mean?

Just reading the play BA. i've heard consistently that several of our key players have been frustrated with not just the way the season ended, but also issues within the FB dept. i think we were able to put those spot fires out this off season, but if we miss the finals in 2021 it'll be much harder.

I don't totally agree, i think Petracca was always going to take a little bit of time, and i think he was quite solid in the forward position. in 2019 he was right up the pointy end of the league for score assists i believe. i think the those feeling Petracca underperformed are really just comparing his output to their expectations, which being a dees supporter are always going to be slightly inflated with a good young draft pick.

That is a DL myth.

AFL has changed Draft Rules re points for matching bids this year only, which helps a few clubs, but guess which club will get no benefit?

it was a throw away line on trying to explain the Pies salary dump. They mentioned a reason for it was they might have a free agent on the hook for next year and Merrett and Trac was used as an example. As mentioned above Trac isnt even a FA next year.

Seems like a harsh comment from you, dazzle.

Cue the usual suspects claiming inside knowledge that Collingwood are indeed hunting Petracca.

Every club is hunting Petracca, which is fine, as he is still under contract for another two seasons.  Good luck to them.

This list may explain Collingwoods salary dump.

I was surprised at the names and can see there are a few targets like Josh Kelly, Cripps, Merret, Matt Crouch, Vlastin and Bontempelli who are restricted free agents as opposed to a standard out of contract player.

I know a lot has been made of Olivers discontent but the stories coming out about other players from all clubs shows he was not alone in this. Hub life messed with many a player which I hope will not be an issue if things normalise next season

Bombers will end up with pick 2.    They should never have gotten pick 7 and 8 in the first place.   How  that happened I will never know.

That’s rubbish, I hate Essendon as much as the next person but they definitely deserved pick 7 for Daniher and they lost a top 5 player at their club in Saad

LOL

Daniher has barely gotten on the field in 3 years.  Was worth pick 20 at most.  His body is shot to bits.

If Saad is worth a top 10 pick what is Salem worth?  Top 3?

Saad is worth what Carlton were willing to pay, that's not Essendon's fault.

Let's not forget we managed to get pick 3 for Chip

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
