He's one of a few players that I feel like he could've been better than what he turned out to be with better development in place, still he's managed to get himself to a very solid AFL career and certainly became a cult favourite at both the Dees and Pies.

Life member.  12 years as a loyal Demon.
Stayed during the really crap years and was versatile across all positions. Loved his goalkicking and ability to kick 60 metres easily. 
 

Was pushed out as one of Goodwin’s first moves and followed his mate Jeremy Howe to the magpies.  He was bitter imo when he left and wanted to stick-it-up the Dees.

Nevertheless he gave his best and will be welcome back to repair any issues. 

Lynden Dunn is someone who got more out of himself than (certainly I ever thought) he could. Congrats to him on a...long…career.

Dunny a reliable and consistent performer playing Full back where I believe played his best football  for the Dees.

He certainly gave his all and was a fan favourite  one l had time for.    Off to the sunset with you Dunny  you had a good stint enjoy your retirement.

I'll never forget when he got carried off in a Melbourne v Collingwood game, playing for Collingwood and all the Melbourne supporters stood up to clap him off.

Doubt it would have happened the other way.

Let's not re-write history just to have a crack at Goodwin, he was barely played in Roos's last year with us, because Roos wanted to bring through the younger guys down back. From what I understand there was no animosity whatsoever, he just wanted to go somewhere where he might get some games and the pies had just lost a number of key backs.

Which young Guys other than Oscar who was always suspect  Jetta Hibberd  hardly qualify for young

With hindsight it was a poor call in my opinion

Very few players spend 16 seasons in the AFL - that is a serious achievement. All the best, Lynden.

 

198 games and no finals. We let him down.

I'll admit I wasn't a fan when he played for us. I thought he was too inconsistent and seemed to lack on-field discipline. But I have been very impressed listening to him speak since he left us. Covid makes it harder as it will reduce job opportunities, but I think he would make a good assistant coach.

Not going to turn a tribute to Dunn into a slanging match, but Oscar and Frost both were the beneficiaries of Dunn being moved firstly to Casey and then off the list, they then became the pillars of defense in the run to the 2018 prelims. Roos held Dunn out for all but 4 games in the 2016 season, which is why he decided to look for more senior opportunities, so not sure how Goodwin can get any blame for that - but the narrative around here at the moment is to blame him for everything so I'm sure you won't see that reasoning. 

Officially the most AFL games played without a final. 

Incredible that he nearly tipped 200 games given the substantial periods of indifferent form, but full credit to him for working his way through each dip and getting back to solid AFL standard. Demonstrated character despite terrible haircuts.

I remember at the family Day when Lynden and Mathew Bate were introduced to those attending as the future stars of the Melbourne Football club. They both played some good footy for us and I wonder how much better it could have been for Dunney if we had have had a really strong development program in place for our newbies. SIGH.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strong teams with strong cultures can carry average players like Dunn.  Because we weren't a strong team, we needed our senior players to set certain standards, which Dunn wasn't capable of doing.  He needed to be moved on.

That's not to take anything away from the  terrific achievement it was to be in the system at all, let alone as long as he was.

When Dunn started he, like Bate, showed enormous potential. Sadly both got weighted down with our poor coaching and development at the crucial state of their careers with the Dees.

I can understand why the coaches were not impressed by his reluctance to play within the "system" (too predictable and too many long bombs to no-one in particular) but he was, at his best, the best one-on-one defender we had and possibly the best in the league. No-one could beat him. It is sad that the coaches could not find a way to integrate such a skill in the team when we needed it the most.
