roy11 4,058 Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 A total of 15 sides have been represented in the 40-man squad, with Adelaide, Gold Coast and North Melbourne the only teams not to have a single player named. Gawn and Nic Naitanui are vying for the ruck position, with dual All-Australian ruckman Brodie Grundy and Kangaroos veteran Todd Goldstein both controversially left out of the squad. Melbourne defender Steven May, Essendon speedster Adam Saad, Sydney midfielder Luke Parker and Gold Coast backman Sam Collins are also notable absentees from the 40-man group. Quote
buck_nekkid 6,099 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 How did May not get a gig? A disgrace. 4 1 Quote

qwerty7 326 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) No May? Laughable really. He - or Trac - will win our B&F. Edited September 22, 2020 by qwerty7 2 Quote

Adam The God 30,706 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Lots of competition for that FB spot. Glad that Oliver's season has been recognised. As for Max, shows you the bar is low for ruckmen and the field is smaller. No way was he in the top 2 rucks. 3 Quote

3183 Dee 2,917 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Absolute farce. Even if Maysie didn’t make the final team, he is clearly good enough for the squad. I call bullish!t 3 Quote
Demon Disciple 12,529 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 If Gawn is deemed as top 40 material, May should be an automatic starting 18. Disgraceful he is not even in the 40 man squad. 4 Quote
deanox 10,070 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I like that Oliver is recognised because I think he really grew this year. He looked to kick more, struggled at first then realised he needed to use his pace to gain space to kick (whereas handballs out of packs happen immediately). He made this change while still being one of the most prolific midfielders and best tacklers in the game. Also I think he is criminally underrated by the umpires and gets a raw deal, getting in this squad does seem to help that. 7 Quote
YesitwasaWin4theAges 6,815 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Just not good enough AFL. Disgrace. Well done Max, Trac and Clarry. 2 Quote
DeeZee 7,495 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 How many times did commentators call him the all Australian full back? Not even in the squad??? pathetic really 2 Quote
Nelo 813 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Actually thought he is the best backman in the league. So to not make the 40 is hard to believe. I suppose they had to make room for Cam Guthrie. 1 Quote
Greendale 350 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Weitering had a great performance in round 1 and carried that hype for an entire season. May was significantly better than him and Collins probably was too. Darcy Moore in a similar situation. Had multiple bad games through the middle of the year that the selectors are happily ignoring. 2 Quote
TRIGON 4,819 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Very strange non-selection. They're on par with our match committee. 4 2 1 Quote
ProperDee 1,698 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Absolutely no contest between May and Weitering and Moore. A total farce. To be frank, May deserved a spot moreso than Max. Quote
nosoupforme 3,085 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 NO S May in the 40 man squad impossible ! not to be selected it is a shame. Gut wrenching.! Could this be the best Full back of 2020 IMO not to make the AA 40 man squad? You Bet Yah ! Can not believe it. 1 Quote
Lord Travis 10,817 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 (edited) May not making the squad is a bit silly. Didn't expect him to make the final 22, but to not make the squad is wrong. I can pick out 5-10 players in that squad he's had a better season than. I expect Petracca be our only player in the final AA 22. Oliver not good enough. Gawn borderline but missed a few games with injury. Edited September 22, 2020 by Lord Travis Quote
picket fence 18,156 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Friggen Wheet Bix instead of May... OUTRAGEOUS Quote
Little Richard 6,265 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 May clearly very stiff. I don't think Langdon would have been an unfair selection either to be honest. 4 Quote
Moonshadow 17,678 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Surprised Max and Clarry got a gig. Shocked May did not Would've given him a go regardless of position played Crazy thinking 2 Quote
