We've been harsh on Goody and the boys and rightly so,  but I'm extremely proud of this effort tonight. Superb.

Enjoy all!

Baker stood up, May is awesome and after all the negative publicity around him last year I hope the media give him the praise he deserves. A great season.

Langdon, wow just awesome, his gut running is fantastic.

A great win and well done melbourne

While he didn't hit the scoreboard, I thought Mitch Brown was good for us tonight.  13 touches and 7 marks and he got up the ground to give us a target as well.  His experience was on full display throughout this game.

Makes the decision to drop him last week for Preuss look even worse than it already did.

Great observation I thought the same.

Agreed. Looked good down back when he was there too. Cool head. Underrated player imho.

We won a tight contested game that mattered. That is a good result.

We play essendon next week.

Hope that gold coast can beat the filth.

Let’s hope that we don’t do the Melbournian thing next week.

Pity the little b got up though. Would have been Melksham’s best moment for weeks.

Another relaxing night in front of the tv. Neighborhood cats have headed for the hills and police attending disturbance

All I can say is this .......Rivers!!!!!!

A great win indeed.

But job is not done. Glad the players didn't over celebrate. Job is not done, as we need a few things to go our way.

On a personal note, I'm very proud of Charlie Spargo. Kid (yes he is only 20 years of age) cops it more then any other player on our list, and to see him play a significant role in tonight's win kudos to his extreme hard work off field.

Those last 30 seconds took an eternity.

Go Hawks

Go Suns

Go Giants (big win please)

Go Freo

Go Port

Go Dees!

He's one of the few forwards we have with actual 'football sense'. A few good tap on, that kick he managed to hoik back to the goal sqaure. Happy with his performance.

Where was that endeavour the last two games, praytell.

That's what we all would like to know?

No voice left..took a second mortgage out for countless drinks at the Gabba. So stoked we got up.

Rivers you star!

No I'm with you here.

His work rate was immense, and gave us a good target, especially in the 3rd quarter.

Only in hindsight.

Brown was poor against Swans, and has been mediocre all year. Still, hope he can back it up against his old club, hard to see him getting dropped on that performance.

Or a GCS win would be almost as good. Pies have Port in the last round. Both would be ideal!

This!! If we could sneak in at Collingwood’s expense...

Bizarre that we were playing a crippled TMac for so long ahead of him. Truly some odd team selections this year

It beggars belief that with a wet windy day in Cairns forecast, we dropped him for Preuss to play Preuss as a forward last week.

If you want to reduce the season down to one major mistake, that maybe is it.

Rubbish. Hindsight just confirmed how bad of a decision it was.

In what world is Preuss a forward? Particularly given the weather conditions we knew was coming (we picked the side 24 hours beforehand). Brown mightn't have been amazing against St Kilda, but he wasn't terrible either.

Any chance of the Hawks pulling off a hail Mary tomorrow?

Can’t see it happening but who knows. I’ll be going for them for the first time ever.

I really did not see that coming.

Lever made mistakes early but he and May in the final quarter were huge.

Rivers is a gem.

Spargo certainly did his job. Pickett much improved. Baker gave us a second wing.

Keeps hope alive for one more week at least. And was a great game to boot.

Have to say i was super critical of Lever  and i stand by it, but he had a terrific last qtr. Good on him.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
