Pickett seriously. How does a small forward miss this??? He needs the rest of the season off. He isnโ€™t ready. Barely touches it and when he does nothing happens.ย

Seems to have very little goal sense from what we've seen this year.ย  Not ideal for a small forward!

I am disgusted with this team. In 47 years of support I am just about done. Weak as piszย

We are back to 2012 days.

Did anyone else see Melksham start to tackle AVB before?

This club is so incredibly hard to follow. Iโ€™m over it!

ย

Welp. That's Goodwin done. Anyone know any rich white knights? Going to need them.ย

Fumbles...we really are averageย

I think average is being generous...

I have never seen another more inept football team in my life

Get rid of this coach for gods sake

Can they not even do the basics right?

I'm done.ย

This club can seriously go and get [censored]. All the promise in the world but fail miserably once again.

I'm done with Goodwin. He can [censored] right off.

Neeld 2.0

Next year then?

13 players in single digit possessionsย

Goodwin is Dean Bailey 2.0. He's lucky he has a decent list. No plan B. Shocking inability to coach to the conditions. Has failed MULTIPLE times in getting the team up for important games. Defensively and tactically inept. A colossal choke occuring here. Gifted an easy draw to finish the season. And choked.

Pathetic.

This is OVER. Goody will rebuild over summer. Be patient

I hope not

The club will fold. It won't sell any memberships.

There's 5 here that are done.

I thought baker and bedford were good inclusions and would add lots of run to our side. All they have added is turnovers, missed tackles and pea hearted efforts. We need to clean out our entires 2s list as they are all rubbish. Thanks for the rubbish draftingย  Jason Taylorย

Being quick doesn't make you a good footy player. No doubt we will sign them up for another 3 years each though.

Not one Melbourne player is taking responsibility to kick goals. Everyone is defending tonight. No intent going forward.ย

I have no idea what they thinkย get paid to do.ย

ย

We look beaten, look in the eyes of the players we are done

Even worse.

Back then, we had expectations to be CRAP.

Now we have expectations to be good and all we are is CRAP.

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Saturday Nightโ€™s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourneโ€™s memorable premiership triumph.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, weโ€™ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binmanโ€™s Stats Files. Not because it isnโ€™t important; quite the opposite. Itโ€™s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourneโ€™s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last yearโ€™s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although itโ€™s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sundayโ€™s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to foolโ€™s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven Kingโ€™s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
