Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have been a premium member for decades and happily paid money to this club because I love it.  This has and continues to be tested every year and frankly I have a trust problem with our ability as a club to deliver us into finals and stay there.  Lots of hope, lots of talk, but we still mire in mediocrity.

After decades I firmly believe the clubs greatest need is to secure and just get a home base with members facilities.  Too much talk and still nothing.
Pert is sitting up in Queensland with the team, why I have no idea!  Surely his focus and reason for been recruited is to secure the home base and just get it done for once and forever. Our identity as a club will not be complete until this is delivered.  I despair when I see other Melbourne based clubs with their own ground, own facilities and government handouts to improve already established home bases.

This has gone on long enough, it is subject every season by members, players, media and so forth.  FFS, Pert was brought to the club to do it.  I’ve got to the stage where I don’t care where it is, just get it started.  The MFC will swirl around in nowhere land until this is done.  The team still is not complete and we are looking again at a wasted season for the 50th something year.  If they want members to stay and be part of something, then give us this home with facilities.  No finals, no premiership and no facilities.  Are you there Gary Pert?

It’s hard to believe that this club has no home. Many years ago as I understand it, in our heyday and we were winning premierships the club was based at the MCG and was associated closely with the MCC. Once again we have an association with the MCC but that doesn’t seem to have changed anything. For many, many years we supporters have watched in dismay as the club office was based in Jolimont, our training and change rooms were at Junction Oval, Casey, and over at Swan St. while other clubs developed great facilities in their traditional homes or elsewhere and started to call our home ground, MCG their own home grounds! The AFL has also developed interstate clubs at our expense. We desperately need a home base with full training facilities, an oval, meeting rooms, a social club.

Two things

We already have number 2 in Max Gawn.

Number 1 is a pipe dream at the moment.

More supporters. Much more.

Always wonder why we dont thrive in this are. I thought it was connected to lack of success but the tigers had a huge drought and their base is huge.

I also thought that people moving to melb would choose the dees because of the city name but it hasnt translated to more fans.

Oh and a flag would be nice.

I hear you Soidee, the fact of the matter is our lack of premiership just plain hurts.

It aint getting easier to get one with the expanding number of clubs.

Whatta you gunna do?

You know you should do something...but you wont...so it doesnt matter.

With the Tigers, it is important to remember that their past era of success got them as far as colour TV and established them with a firm presence in the early commercial era.  It also established a club culture of 'we are an important club, even our crapness is important'.  Whereas Melbourne don't have recent enough, visible enough, glory era to refer to so our failures aren't interesting in the same way an the sense of 'we'll be back soon, so support us' doesn't hold as strong.

Of course, you can also look at the Bulldogs, who have been a regular contender with many stars of the game in the last 25 years, but who completely failed to turn that into serious fan growth. And the exemplar of that, of course, is North Melbourne.

As for the current situation, I think one of the recent headlines summed it up - you can't trust us.  Every time we look like we've turned a corner, every time we have a high profile game, we blow it.  Only sustained, respectable performances will change that.  And that is entirely a matter of having a mature, professional culture.

I still think we're a lot closer to respectability than we were five years ago, but we really, really need to push for finals this year.  Just barely missing out might be 'okay' if 2021 goes well because, really, who is going to look at 2020 as a reference point in future.

But, really, the best way would be to win all our remaining games, storm into finals and at least knock a couple of overcooked pretenders out - it would be ideal to get a reputation as the club which picks off the smug, entitled clubs.

Just what is the difference between him working from the hub or working from home in Melbourne?  You do realise that if he were in Melbourne, he would be subject to ALL of the restrictions in place meaning that all business would have to be conducted online regardless.

So what is he doing in the hub if it doesnt matter where he is to do the job. Free meal, accomadation and COVID safety.

The latest leader is totally irrelevant. A pimple on a pumpkin. We, the supporters should get together and force this change: a training ground, a social club, a big building with a big gym in it, recognition by the AFL and the MCC that we are more important than any other club in the AFL. We started this [censored] competition!

Could we make a statement by building a floating gym and admin offices on the Yarra just near Gosch's paddock? It would be just like the new Apple store in Singapore.

[I know it will never happen.]

This is what i have been saying. You can build over the Yarra river, near Gosch's paddock, and you could even have a river boat drop people off near the G, the club could even have it's own river boat with decal on the out side of the boat of our logo or players, red and blue lights.

Charge a small fee much like the myki system, and it could be money going into the club.

But as we know, it will be unlikely to happen, that we ever get anything?!

Gee I don't know... maybe it's because he is CEO of the club and that it might be good for him to be around the players and the officials; a show of solidarity even?  Seriously, I simply don't understand why people just seem to look for things to complain about with this club.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
