My thoughts,    very even game,  both sides at their best, fantastic,  I think we shade them in the midfield overall,  our backs at least equal to their forwards.

and I think our forwards can shine on a dry day,  about 10 points a quarter better side Demons,

if we are switched on and play the four quarters.    Betting shifting has no effect on what happens ob the field, unkless you are playing Carlton or Collingwood and they  are betting their trip away money,

Go Dees

Yep. No Bali Bogan’s this year. Their dental bridge fund might be in trouble though.

Jeez strange times!!!

Just reflecting. In a normal season, I'd be settling into a pot at The Duke about now. Thinking about maybe a quick snack and trying to coerce @Moonshadow into buying a round.

What a ****ty year it's been.

Have watched Bailey Smith closely all year as he played at my boys jnr footy club.

He never stops running and seems to rarely have anyone go with him as there is more focus on Bont,  McCrae even Libba.

Very good player,  we can't let him loose he can do some damage.

I hope he is that excited, but that sounds like it needs appropriate consent....

If the Bulldogs are to win it will be because their leg speed cuts us up.

Agree that is one of their strengths but I think our defensive system negates it because they won't have space to run into.

What worries me most is their kicking - players like the bont, macrae, Daniels and crozier will look to get through our zone with sharp, accurate kicks.

Key will be our pressure on the kicker (and those little flick passes they love).

If we bring the heat we win.

No problem Uncle.

Two Heineken zeros, thanks!

I hate playing against the non-glamour Victorian clubs: North, St Kilda and the Bulldogs. We invariably lose against mid-table rubbish and it's not nearly as satisfying when we do win. But today would be very satisfying against a strong midfield outfit.

There is not rhe appropriate response button indicating agreement (a thumbs up might suggest it been a top year).

But I agree.

This should be a ripping game of footy.

Ideally, I'd love to see us 8 goals up at half time so we can absolutely ruin the game as a contest, but that just won't happen.

As many have said, it's the battle of the midfields.  This is where the strength of the Doggies lies, and if we can at least break even across the ground then I think that puts us in a good spot to win the game.  Our forward line functions better than theirs and we can kick more of a score than they can.

Dees by 4 goals.

Yes indeed. Could be worse with no footy at all or Dees losing the last 3. Im glad footy is back. So badly needed for so many doing it tough. Now look lets get the job done and be 8 goals up at half time so we can relax and start worrying about next week.

Really big game - most nervous I've been

Stop Naughton and Bruce and we'll be alright - I can't see either of them kicking big bags and our backline has been really solid

Starting to enjoy watching Oliver play so excited for that

Not excited to see Tmac out there - not being mean but he's just not up to it.

Hope he proves me wrong and kicks a bag though!

Remember so many times over the years seeing Melbourne play the Bulldogs in absolutely freezing weather. One day at Princes Park actual sleet was blowing in my face all day. Oh happy days. True to form, Melbourne town turns on the wintry blast. A part of me is glad I don't have to make the decision to go to the MCG today!

No excuses Dees, A win today thanks for us miserable Vics.

Interesting the Dogs don’t have a dangerous small forward at all really...they’ve got Ben Cavarra who’s unproven at AFL level, Mitch Wallis who’s more a midsize marking player and that’s about it...

Ive just sobered up from last week and I'm pumped!

Son's footy was cancelled this morning due to the Arctic conditions. Sausage rolls are in the oven,  beer fridge is stocked, comfy tracky dacks are on, and it's just started snowing!

Big battle in the midfield today...hope the lads are up for it. Go Dees.

I can't help but think Bruce will pull something out but I'm choosing to keep the faith in our stubborn rearguard. They're giving us plenty of reasons to be confident in stopping those types.

If we can't win this (and/or next week's game), then in the event that we do somehow manage to make it to the finals, we'll just be making up the numbers.  This game and next week's game against the Saints are our two make or break games.

Personally, I think that momentum is a great thing and that we should manage to get across the line today, but I'd suggest this is probably our biggest hurdle thus far.

Thanks KK. We've got intermittent snow in Latham.  I'd love to warm up by going early with a celebratory cognac, but I'm too nervous about changing my gameday routine.  Ahh, the things we do for this football team!

So English is playing?   I wanna see Preuss physically intimidate him and hurt him, hes twice as strong

Dees $1.72 out to $2

Beteasy now has us at 2.20 Dogs 1.77 But that happened last week as well. How did we end up last week did the plunge on the pies come off.

Nobody ever accused punters of being intelligent.    The house always wins.

You're not wrong.  I just thought there must've been a whisper of a late change or something because a late swing that quickly without any news is pretty unusual.

Very worried about today. 4 wins a row? You’re dreaming right?

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
