Surely not going to go interstate again when he's got a contract. Different if Freo was ready to turf him and he had no other option.

Let's be really nice to him until he comes out of contract and then snatch him on the cheap if he's looking good.

He's in WA and Josh Kennedy is 103yo - if he was a desirable target West Coast would be all over him.

Completely agree. Any young fella in his shoes would have done the exact same thing.

He leaves his shoes on... kinky.

That even West Coast, a club with a rich history of making champions out of troubled blokes don’t want him, says a lot.

Yeah, Jesse is about 15 years too late to that party

Still have some faith in Jessie, he's one solid preseason away from being elite again

I think it’s more his attitude

So am I!

I think Jesse at his best would be a dream addition.  Not sure  we ever consistently saw it.  Think there may be off-field, attitude and even mental health issues that will be in play in the long term.

Perhaps the early drafting was not suited to him - a bit longer at home to mature and really develop a fire to play might have seen Jesse become something special.

I think he is an expensive risk given recent history and dramas.  With list sizes reducing and salary cap pressure, I dont think he would come cheap.  I hope he finds form, but dont think it would be great list management to take him back.  Suggest a rookie approach like Bennell is the go, but doubt he would be in for that.

one pre-season away you say? that's sounds like an mfc player if ever i've heard of one!

Jesse didn't realize how good he had it with us before he broke down and then asked for a return home. In the end  Goody had enough and did a deal .

When your in a good space you tend to play good footy and he was with Melbourne .Now he wants to move on again and we     should ask the question.

If Freo are willing to trade for Jesse we should look at it.  If you don't ask you won't know.

To some extent, this is my thinking. There is a chance he didn't realise how good it was over here and constantly battled a bit of nostalgia from home, thinking that would fix all his problems. It hasn't, and if he realises this he might be able to knuckle down and return. But I do think the club would be in the best position to judge that. And we wont take him and Brown.

I don't think they will take him at all. On top of his head problems he has been some what less than durable.

It's pretty clear that the club was happy to see him leave and he won't be coming back.

he wasn't even an adult when he moved halfway across the country and played in the vfl for a year before doing his back in and missing the first year he was able to play at senior level

he won the rising star in his second year showcasing the sort of key forward form you'd expect of a mature 25-year old - dominating contested marks and kicking 40+ goals in a side that still was average at best

had a rotten run in 2017 with his father's death, his own cancer, then a broken shoulder...if he had had a clean run that season, we would've stood a far greater chance of making finals that season instead of missing out by the smallest percentage margin on record

his time at the dees was littered with missed opportunities; he didn' t even get to taste finals action in the year in which his 50-odd goals in 20 games made a vital contribution to us making them for the first time in 12 seasons

we all know he's good enough to play a key role as a forward in a good afl side

it all comes down to what he wants

Yeah just like us being one good preseason away from finals.

One finals appearance in 14 seasons!

He's also one 'solid pre-season' away from obscurity.

Can we pay his contract through a cashless debit card like the Centrelink one?

What was that?

Tom Morris and John Ralph were discussing trades on the GF preview on Fox Footy.  Said that Mahoney and others had met with Hogan and have subsequently ruled him out.  Not much more than that.

They would know him best of all the suiters.  Obviously he's not in a good place or wanted too much.

Physically fit, maybe, the other stuff that goes on, not even close.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.
