I just wish Jackson was playing.....will star against The filth in the future.

Lets hope its a reasonably dry track.

Weid, you can step up to the plate today and smoke em!

That’s a Braveheart style speech mate, I’m fired up!! Send it over to Goody for the pre match!

Im going to keep it simple.

The Magpies are coming off a 4 day break.

We are coming off a 6 day break.

If we dont win this it will be the biggest fail of the season.

Collingwood have always been my favorite team to beat.  Our prime mids have been in top form, and if they maintain it today, then we win, and it'll be a great day  ......... simple as that!

Big one today! I’ll be heading off to the Gabba and cheering loud. Hope big Preussy competes well.

Big one today from our midfield group, need to get on top around the ball.

Go hard Dees.

As stated previously. Have a great day.

You  are representing us  who cant be there.

Cheer loud and proud GO DEES.

WITH PASSION AND ENTHUSIASM

Taylor Adams is the danger man.  We will need to take him out of the play.  Job for Harmes?

Let our other midfielders take care of their hobbling/aging midfielders.

I don't think there is a team I wanna beat more than Collingwood.

Gotta win this one Dees.

If we are within 3 goals at 3/4 time we should win. 2 extra days break, and confidence in our own fitness should make a big difference in the last.

Belief is something this team needs to take that next step.

Dont let yourself down Dees. We are good enough.

Gawn out is a blessing in disguise.

1. Felt like our ball movement out of defence had grown stale and predictable. Don't know what to do with the footy? Just bang it long down the line to Max in a 5on1!! No Gawn forces us into adopting a more creative approach. Lower the eyes. Switch the play. All that good stuff.

2. The Bris/Port games - we got found out a bit at the stoppages. Your ruckman dominating the hit outs doesnt guarantee you the clearances. Mids now have to be switched on - equally prepared to both defend and attack. "Switched on" is definately the way I like my midfields.

3. Gawn gets a spell. If we're getting serious about this year, we need him fit and healthy when things start to get... serious.

4. Who doesn't wanna see Preuss step up and be a legend? Grundy has to be sore and tired. Hurt him. Emotionally and physically.

Thinking positive thoughts now because 5 minutes into the 1st quarter, the sky could be falling and I could well be screaming for Goodwins head!

But nah seriously, relax. We got this.

But it won't though Pickett

Geelong came off a 4 day break and Port had a 6 day break. Yet Geelong were still able to comfortably beat port.

Its just going to come down to who wants it more and the better team on the day.

We haven’t had a 4 quarter effort all year

Good day to start

Exactly this. We underestimated the pies that day in 2017, cannot do it again today.

Didn't know that.  Thats a fair effort from Geelong.

And there goes what confidence I had in a win tonight.   Thanks DD!

Yep, our typical pattern in these must win games is to come out with the banana lounges in the first quarter. End up 5 or 6 goals down and then play 3 quarters of competitive footy and lose by 5 or 6 goals.

Have we transformed?

I hate to be negative but just can't see us winning this. Maybe its the MFCSS setting in. When there's been a golden opportunity in front of us to take it we just fail due to expectations.

But I feel like we have also selected a team pull of one paced mids and Collingwoods speed of the half back and wings will expose us.

Collingwood by 3 goals.

Collingwood are missing Stephenson, DeGoey and Cox. Three players that are at least worth 7-8 goals between them on average against us.

Replace this and our back line can mostly just focus on their danger forwards in Miochek and Elliot who we can nullify.

No Howe will allow our forwards to thrive and not worry about them dropping back and playing the loose intercept mark. We will be able to get to more contests and bring the ball to ground for our smalls to go to work.

If we don't win this by 5+ goals I'll be surprised.

We should win this but whether we do depends on which melbourne team turns up. in the last few games we have seen a lacklustre melbourne for 3 quarters, fumbling, kicking poorly, bombing it away into the forward 50 and woeful kicking for goal from both set shots and snaps from relatively close in. If the last quarter demons that have played the last couple of weeks turns up for 4 quarters we should run right over collingwood.

Ugh! Have to say I agree @dazzledavey36 - my MFCSS is too deep. Too many times we have been in this situation.

That said, I think there is a good energy amongst these young guys - as someone said on the @Demonland podcast, the younger players can now learn their role amongst more experienced players, which hasn’t happened for years. I think the veil of negativity is slowly lifting from our club, especially with the injection of the great young talent. Such a shame Jackson is out - his energy and enthusiasm are great to see.

Let’s hope that today is another step towards the good times.

I know the feeling on this one. We should comfortably account for them, but we've been here before and this team needs to do quite a bit more to regain the trust of the supporter base. It's going to take more than a few wins this season to make me go into a game like this feeling totally confident. This scum have had our edge for a few seasons now.

So, this will be Collingwood’s ‘get smashed’ game.  I Reckon they will manage 2.5 With plenty of umpire assistance.  We will kick >60 points, meaning we are looking at 35-40 point win.

They are rushing back a number of players and are missing some really important others.  If we can take our belief from the last few games, and play all four quarters, we can take this.  Our setup behind the ball has to be impeccable, and we will run over the top of them in the last (or earlier if they just give up the ghost).

Preuss has so much to prove, and if Viney rotates with Gus and Oliver through the half forward role, this should work a treat.  TMAC to be the contested marking target, Weid the leading marking target.

Go Dees, beers are in the fridge ready to go!

He can go head to head with Oliver...

Sidebottom is the danger man, Harmes to Sidebottom for mine

It's 4 premiership points. We could lose this game and go undefeated for the rest of the year, but this one feels different...

It's time for the new era to stand up, take control, and take this club foward.

The old guard is done, they've battled as hard as they could but today is the day, against the old enemy, that we must rise.

The old Melbourne would fold, fall, offer excuses, have a good team on paper but forget the game is played on the ground.

I get the feeling these guys won't let that happen, there is something in the air that's for sure.

I found that if I read this using a Winston Churchill voice (in my mind), it's an even more impressive post!  Let's hope you're right.

I don't have any confidence at all for this game like I did a week or so ago. However my vehement hatred of the filth will see me drink a couple of stubbies more through the match and my high or low after the game will be exagerated.

I have to say Daz, I’m in the same boat. Have a bit of a sick feeling about this one, I can feel it, deep down, in my plums.

I think we're going to lose comfortably. I haven't seen any evidence that we've gotten rid of our soft underbelly that played embarassing footy against port.

So I guess you now don’t rate Port...Saints & GWS as plenty of “soft underbellies “ in those 3 games ?
