disagree entirely, when have you seen geelong target anyone who is out of favour or 50;50 to improve the side over the last 5-10 years same deal with hawthorn for the most part too. If we want to upgrade outside pace or any position for that matter it has to be target the top otherwise we will see no growth and stagnate as a mid table side, wasting what good players we've got. If we want a player who "may" become best 22 thats where u target the draft ie Rivers is a hit and can play that role just as well as RAtkins will in the future but maybe not as well as your Phillips, Williams, Hunter, Polec types who we've been linked to.

Replacing Hunt and ANB with Atkins who doesn't have any extra upside is silly imo but a 21yo with potential to grow thats a swap i'd be willing to accept.

this article is a beautiful reference as to what we must follow. if you play supercoach youll be farmiliar with the term guns and rookies. Same applies to actual football lists, you dont target mid tier players if you want to move forward

I feel like you have contradicted your own question.

Geelong have targeted players from other clubs who fill roles and are not superstars but proven role players ie: Thuoy, Henderson, Dalhaus, Stanley, Rohan

Hawthorn targeted players who have shown promise but have lost their way through form, attitude to injury that fill their need but usually pay overs ie: Patton, Scully, OMeara, Ceglar, Winguard, Henderson.

Atkins prior to this year since 2016 had played a minimum 20 games a year and averaged 20+ possessions and is only 26. He is actually the exact type of free agent that they would target if they had a need.

I dont disagree with loading up on quality kids but I assume you have noted we dont have a pick inside 20 and I am unclear who you think we will trade out to get one let alone the 3 Port used to get Rozee, Butters and Duursma.

I am not convinced anyone would jump at Preuss as a first ruck although understand it is his role.

Pruess is number one ruck in alot of sides, has shown that in the VFL.  Will defs get interest in him.  What he is worth, who knows, hard to sell someone who isn't in your best side

Don’t mind the Atkins idea but wouldn’t be paying him too much.

We should also have a go at Witherden who has only recently won back his spot in the Bris side (Victorian).

Jack Sinclair could fill a need for us on the cheap. I’d also have faith in Burgess and co to get Cockatoo back on the park - Geelong couldn’t ask for much given his injury history.

We need one player with pace and skills

We need one player with speed who is also a good kick

We also need a further player who has the ability to break the lines and hit targets

Not sure if he is a number 1 ruck yet but Swans are screaming out for a ruck at the moment. Naismith is there best but perennially injured and did an acl 2 months ago so will miss a fair chunk next year.

I'd be bringing Preussy in this week against The Bloods to give them a good look. He would get plenty of matches with them next year and could become their number 1.

I'd love to get Rowbottom, great young mid with pace and skill. Camberwell boy too,  let's bring him home. He's highly rated so we'd need to add steak knives or pick swaps.

A real nothing article by Morris.

Only thing I took out of it was Tomlinson will become a defender which means its red flag for Oscar if that's the case.

Was pleased to read that. Glad they aren't deluded and will actually get another 'genuine' winger as a priority.

Yep.

Right now besides Polec, I dont know who else they would have in mind. No one really sticks out in my opinion.

I think Zac Fisher from the Blues will become a good player and would be a good outside player for us. 22 years old. Is contracted to 2021. Would need to give up somebody to get him.

He has serious toe, flair and loves the rough stuff. Carlton would be fools to let him go.

Fremantle chasing Angus is what I’m hearing. #ETthetradewhisperer.

Man I hope so. Don't rate Angus, and I think he needs to go for balance. I also think he's bad for culture too. Just a vibe I get from him.

former teammate of mine Rowy loves the peninsula he'd be lapping up every minute of life on bondi, not to mention hes been there number 2 mid all season. he'll be there the long run

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
