Body is shot since the footy injury. He’s got the turning circle of the titanic. If it’s not a straight lead and chest mark in space, then he’s out of the contest. We took a big risk putting our stock in him being a dominant key forward. The gamble has not paid off.

Up there with Chris Dawes and Ben Holland as one of the most slowest and useless footballer when the ball hits the ground.

Bite the bullet and trade him. He is cooked.

Cant trade him if he has no value. Definetly a delist. Funny thing is that he's one of the highest paid players in the game

He has lost me. Slow as a dung beetle and can't handle the ball properly. We miss a player like Petty.

Something is wrong, because two years ago he was one of the quickest endurance athletes around for his size.

We’ll have to pay 600 of his 700k to move him I’d imagine.

Could still be ok for a team that can move the ball but his lack of movement is awful. Always tries to take tacklers on and has this belief that he can go on his right foot and hit a target when there’s 4 tacklers in his way.

His best attribute of endurance is useless in shorter games and we so rarely switch it’s not like he’s getting the fat side leads anyway.

Ahhhh Melbourne, where a bloke can kick 50+ goals, look like a top 5 key forwards in the comp, sign a big deal as never play well again

His first lead were he stuck out his foot instead of diving for it sold it for me.

The only logical decision is to send him back into defence, remember when he was Rance like? I do.

Agreed. Slow and lacking any marking presence. Not a defender. Not a key forward. Trade to Suns and get a 2nd round pick.

I would.

Can't see him ever improving again. Last week and against Hawthorn showed that Weideman Jackson combo can work with more games and experience together.

McDonald was a blimp.

Was a poor defender too. Could drift across and take a few marks when the 3rd defender...but extremely poor at winning or halving 50/50 contests. His spoiling intensity was not much stronger than his brothers.

You guys are kidding if you think we would get a 2nd rounder for him. He wouldn’t make the best 22 in any other team. Lucky to get a pick in the 80s if a club is desperate for depth.

Wouldn't get anything for him now...he's done.

Any talk of going back to defence, forget about it. Hasn't got the mobility.

Totally put the balance out in the forward line and took Weids space.

Weid & Jackson for now on for sure 'dazz'

Sad to say it but I think you can stick a fork in him and say he's done, he looked incredibly slow tonight. That pass from Salem still should've hit him but those first few steps were snail pace and he just seemed to have to ability to get to contests.

Our forward line has functioned better without him the last two weeks, I think that's a bad sign for him.

he doesn't belong in our forward line anymore - we must build around weideman, jackson, pickett with the likes of bennell, avb, melksham, hannan offering flank support

he doesn't belong in our backline - we have invested heavily in may and lever, o mac is faster that t mac, hibberd's season has shown that he belongs at this level again, salem is our best ball user playing wing / half-back, and lockhart has already taken over from jetta

he doesn't belong in the midfield - far too slow and cumbersome to play wing, can't bend over to pick up the ball, and can't jump in the ruck

two more years to go of a pretty hefty contract...

Very disappointing last night but the greatest forward in the game would look bad with the ball coming in like that. And it's been coming in like that for a long long time.

He’s done. It’s sad because he was obviously a good player, but he has added size and looks like an absolute lump out there.

This is the thing, for a guy with super aerobic ability he looks overweight to me.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
