As they should. The rest of us have to stay indoors and do the right thing. Because they are AFL footballers they've got the privilege of doing what they love in a strange time. If they blow it, they deserve consequence.

All I know is whatever sanctions are applied, to whichever club...we will be directly disadvantaged as a result.

Now that i know we are not one of the teams involved i say

THROW THE BOOK AT THEM !!

Nice holiday for some.

Basically wandering around in public places and then going back to a Hub

Whist we are all in Lockdown and not allowed to cross any Borders

Right on the edge.

There was reference in the Guardian to this issue today.

Apparently Gil has read the riot act to the WAGS.

Something also about wanting to bring a puppy from Melbourne.

Sooner this season ends the better for everyone

PS Fining a club for the actions of a player's partner.... wow that's challenging on so many levels

An unhealthy sense of entitlement among the campfollowers methinks !

It’s on a knives edge. The reason that Vic and NSW and now QLD are in covid outbreaks is because of individuals not following the right processes.

The seriousness of the situation means these breaches must incur $$$ but also more serious club penalties like points.  Clubs don’t worry about $5,000 or $10,000.  They worry about loss of 2 points or 4 points. That would make the discussion more serious.

You are absolutely spot on here. If the penalty was premiership points then the clubs would pack up all the WAGS and send them home. I know it's tough on the players being away from their families, friends and support circles but if the families keep [censored] up then there will be no game for them to be away from and they can spend as much time as they want with them.

In a microcosm of what's playing out around the country a very small group of selfish and gormless individuals are jeopardising the efforts and sacrifices being made by the greater population. The AFL did a lot of sabre rattling about the consequences of breaking the rules put in place to safeguard this years competition which have turned out to be little more than a damp squib in reality. I don't expect this case will play out any differently.

With virus spot fires popping up all over Sydney, landed in Brisbane and hub families taking their protocols lightly one wonders if we will even get thru the season.

Qld Premier is facing an election in Oct so will go heavy handed on any risk ala closing borders to Sydney and totally blindsiding her counterpart.  She is in a 'take-no-prisoners' mood.

Even if we get thu the season, the AFL may need to truncate the Finals series if it can't get the teams in/out of states with closed/semi-closed borders.  So I wouldn't be surprised if it abandons the traditional 8 teams/5 week finals structure.

We need to get up the ladder fast just in case!

It might be the only way to get the message through.

This is utter rubbish.

They wouldn't be allowed to do any of that if they were back home in Melbourne, so WHY be selfish and do it on the Gold Coast and risk the season? This is your livelihood. You are being paid by the AFL to be with your partner who is earning money to keep your family going. Why then are you blatantly disregarding the rules?

The selfishness and stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. Never moreso than during this pandemic.

700 odd new cases in Victoria today, many coming from aged care residents who will likely DIE from this, all because people CANNOT FOLLOW SIMPLE RULES.

Stay home you flogs.

This country really needs to etsablish a new indictable offence called "criminal stupidity".

We’d need to build a lot more jails.

i still can't believe a player asked permission for a puppy to join the hub.

Hahahaha I love that.

What if his puppy is his support person? Not everyone likes the company of other humans.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
