I love Melbourne.

I love you.

I love a win.

It was one of the most frustrating games to watch in among some good footy and in among some horror football.

But the last two minutes summed it up for me.  The new Trac, kicking the sealer.  Lever and May taking big marks when we needed it.  Then Viney boots it forward to Kozzie who shows maturity in kicking in to Harley.  Love it.

There is still so much to work on but we won away from home against a side playing good footy.  Love it.

And the WEED!

Thank god.

AVB, Hannan, Viney all huge and big impact.

Oscar an important inclusion.

Oliver and Max had clumsy games.

Their speed challenged us at times but we held firm.

Still major concerns about conversion and skill efficiency. Our turnovers continue to kill us.

1 down for most of the game, good effort.

Rankine is going to be some player though

Is it what.  Fantastic debut.  I thought Nev did okay in patches but he was too clever for him on a few occassions.

Hmmmmm.......not a single moment of that suggests we have come anywhere near the corner we need to turn. Still, a win’s a win, and it’ll give them some confidence. In what, I just don’t know.

Thank Lucifer.  We've started playing something resembling real footy again.

Viney, Hannan and even AVB in the last..

Vn job

All three had massive second halves.  AVB with some big tackles, Hannan getting back to some of the 2018 form that made him so dangerous, and Viney leading from the front.  Really terrific to see.

Good game good inclusions, [censored] me Rankine is scary

Pickett to Harley.. i jizzed..

That is a bloody good win! Don't underestimate the suns. They're going to be a good side this year and years to come.

The composer from Oliver, Hannan and Pickett was simply huge!

Welcome back Weideman.

So, we showed a glimpse of what might be if we move it inside 50 with a bit more consideration.

But Lord, all the polish has been chaos-ed out of this team. It's going to take a while.

What a game by Viney.

He totally redeemed himself tonight.

Kossie to Harley to finish ?

Couldn't have picked a better finish to the game.

Still bloody frustrating at times but you could certainly see the message sinking in! Really stoked with how they responded this week, huge step forward.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
