We can give Lever, Smith and OMac all the week off and let Ratagolouou do all the spoiling.

Are you talking about the ball he tapped back into play from the goal line JD? Picture this forum if that was one of ours and we’d lost by under a kick.

Lol, we would totally neglect the fact that we played like poo for 3 quarters, we would definitely single out that single brain fade as the cause of the loss.

I think the scratch game today plus matchups will be important at selection.  I suspect the crash plus speed philosophy will hold, and not too many changes from the non-team from r3 will be made.

This week’s team made sense because it was forecast to be quite wet. We were lucky the match wasn’t played!

i think we do need a key forward and on the basis of the Practice match perhaps it has to be Brown

One for the trivia buffs. In the history of the game, has there ever been a team selected, not played and then had changes made to it before the next game?

On a serious note, if that happens, it will need a bit of careful ego management for any player who might be omitted this week. I know clubs have to trim their off-field costs, but under the current circumstances I hope our club, and all clubs, are still investing appropriately in player welfare.

Totally agree. That was my concern also. But I am sure players realise they are picked with things like 1. Weather 2. The opposition etc is concerned.

Brown is the 2020 version of the 2019 Preuss

No thanks

Does any one have the current injury list? Its been nagging me as to who we might be missing most up forward - Harrison Petty came to mind. I also think Smith has a bit to offer there too to charge things up a bit mark and goal kicker wise. With Bennell, Lochhart and  Pickett at their feet and Hunt too.

What is Petty's actual injury at the moment?

No change for me. The inclusion of VDB and Hannan makes a better team balance. The Pies structure does not rely key forwards. Mihochek s CHF and a ruckman Cox/Cameron with a swarm of Elliott, deGoey who are good overhead. Phillips, Brown and Caicos at ground level. Then there is their elite midfield lead by Pendlebury & Sidebottom complemented by Adams and Treloar and so lesser lights who play their role in Hoskin-Elliot, Thomas, Brown and Mayne.

The point is we have the elite ruckman, a gun midfield 4, the addition of 2 wingmen we need the flanker and other mids to play a role and kick more goals. I look to milk, Fritta, Ghanan and AVB to give us the grunt and lift we need.

We're playing Geelong though, OD.

Is he,  really.    He is elite on Statistics.   But  we've played better footy when his been inured.

What I am getting at is...  he would be so much more effective,  if he takes more marks around the ground,  without going to ground.  And also he has to,  IMV,   get forward and mark more often.

We need him to add goals,  and also to Split packs,  forward/midfield..

I'd prefer another tall to take marks positioned kick behind play.   and I'd like to see Tomlinson, Brown & Gawn taking midfield marks and from kick-outs.

Then Gary misses from 15 out directly in front.

IN: Brown

OUT: Hannan

I like Hannan a lot but I agree, two weeks in a row Brown pulls out some goals, it shouldn’t be ignored. Our forward line looks short without one of Weids or Brown in there as well. I really wanted to see Sam do well in the intra-club but it looks like Brown has the form.

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
