State of play: The Demons haven't announced it but Corey Wagner has re-signed for another year, in a bid to prove he can be a long-term player at the club. The ex-Roo and pre-season supplemental selection period signee made 11 senior appearances in his first season in red and blue. Co-captain Nathan Jones was also a free agent and was locked away on a new one-year contract last week. As for potential incomings, the link between Melbourne and Giants unrestricted free agent Adam Tomlinson has strengthened in recent weeks to the point industry sources believe he is certain to become a Demon. - Marc McGowan

  • Demonland changed the title to Demons Re-Sign Corey Wagner?

I wonder why the club has chosen to re-sign players but not announce it yet??? I know that Alex Neal-Bullen has signed a two year deal but it has not yet been announced by the club. I wonder why?

Yeah, seems weird, maybe saving it for either the Bluey or to cushion the blow when they announce players leaving?

Or avoiding fan outrage on social media.

He is a rookie no issue with him keeping that spot for another year.  His brother needs to be off the senior list though

I reckon Corey is worth another look for sure.  he is ~21yo and runs all day. has plenty of mongrel in him too

suspect his older brother might be in trouble though.  he has not come on in the past 2 years

I don't mind Corey and I think in a performing side he would be similar in terms of usefulness to Hannan last year. As for Josh Wagner, I have him firmly in my delist box.

Corey is a goer and handy depth.

Won't be much more than that as he lacks the quick reaction time that the really good players have.

Just that hair off...

Im a fan of Nibbler as my sig suggests, but i am positive his re-signing wont be much of a blow-cushioning if one of our better players leave.

It's hard to really judge these signings until after the trade period where you look and who came and went and how we are placed for depth but it is what it is I guess. I don't think he has the skills or decision making to be a regular but I guess his speed/endurance is decent and he did a couple of good things towards the end of the year.

This is the massive signing we will announce after we have shafted ourselves during the trade period!

Another VFL level player continues for the not-so-mighty Demons. The team should be relegated to the VFL. I doubt that they’d beat many teams there! Maybe Frankston.

A bit harsh. He's a depth player that is cheap. If we can get all of Langdon, Tomlinson and Elliott watch us rise up the ladder.

Must be saving them up for an all in one announcement extravaganza.

Reckon he shows abit myself and hopefully with a few more games he'll show abit more..
I'm happy we're keeping him.

If they want 2 keep him y don't they demote 2 rookie & free up another spot. If Wagner improves then promote him if he doesn't delist  We hang onto ayers for 2 long. JKH 7 years for 39 games as an example.

I thought about having a real go at you about this post but I decided in the end your just not worthy of it.

The following players are VFL level or below VFL level:

Jay Kennedy-Harris

Both Wagners

Baker

Bedford

Bradtke

Chandler

Jordon

Keilty

Kolodjashnij

Nietschke

Preuss

Sparrow

Spargo

Stretch

Walker

Sparrow

The MFC will not win a premiership until it recruits and develops elite players like those of Richmond, Geelong, Collingwood, West Coast. We have chosen poorly in the past year and developed some potential elite players poorly. Max Gawn was just about our only elite player this year based on performance. The catastrophic drop to the bottom of the ladder had a reason. We just don’t have the cattle.

Wow break open the champagne celebrate another VFL standard player on board with ANB

I'm so excited!

Laughable post. Your forum name clearly is appropriate.

Great reply. Attack the poster rather than the content. Which players do you think were elite this year?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
