I can't get my head around it. What are they doing (besides their superior facilities than ours) that we are not?

$$$ - and you’re automatically in their best 22.

Must be better than playing in the VFL for 80% of the season at a better club.

Well duck it’s not the theme song

It’s being reported that Richmond won’t stand in the way of Butler moving elsewhere and a fourth round pick has been suggested as adequate for a trade.

Problem for Melbourne as things stand is that we don’t have a fourth round pick after yesterday’s trading.

Future fourth... done.

Butler to the Saints

Lockhart will do fine. Will be 24 next year and as tenacious as ever to keep his place in the team.

with the dearth of small forwards who can rotate through the midfield and the demand for them, butler will be in demand at the end of the season from multiple clubs i suspect

could yet end up a two-time premiership player if one of castagna, rioli, bolton, etc. were to get injured on the run-in to the tiggas winning it all

sigh

he's been outstanding for the aints this year

most amazing thing is the tiggas didn't even use the pick they got for him; it was a straight-up gift wrapped in a bow to moorabbin

You can't continue to annoy the entire board but then complain when people call you out.

Each week you bump threads out of nowhere, many of which are your threads to begin with, almost always after losses.

Nothing wrong with bumping threads. Just highlighting how badly we need decent small forwards as our current fwd line is devoid of pressure

I must admit having thought the same thing last year. I assumed he had injury or 'other' problems for there to be such a low, industry-wide, interest in him. Inexplicable and unexplainable.

Had a superb season. One of the exact players we are missing.
What a shame he has gone to that club

I wanted him to E. I saw great potential when I saw his VFL games last year.

I just don't understand why a thread from last year needs to be brought up again? I'm sure it doesn't you or I any comfort at all? Yeah it hurts to see him play well but people just need to get over it and move on.

I have hopes that Pickett and Bedford can be our specialist small forwards for us moving forward.

Coz its MFC Dont u get it!!???

I was just curious if anyone on here knew why Melbourne didn't chase him, hence why I bumped this

Who says they didn't?

Dan Butler, Josh Mahoney and Tim Lamb will be your best bet to ask.

After he kicked his 23rd goal today I also thought we should have got him last trade period.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
