Hmm. I thought he was an unrestricted free agent that comes out of a 1 year contract at the end of the season?  In career best form with a clean bill of health, Can play small and tall. Great mark overhead, and decent goal sneak. Can't be on much and could possibly be lured over with a decent offer?

Would have to be a sneaky offer though, would not touch with a ten foot pole if Buckley actually put him on the table (with his duplicitous history)

He comes across as one dimensional, selfish player who has one trick... to kick goals which is just what we need but he is hardly on the park.

I love watching him play when he is playing well but I don’t know if we could keep him healthy and he will only get bigger/slower over time which is a risk. But he’ll get to fly for plenty of hangers in Goodies “system”.

A poor mans Charlie Spargo - pass

A poor man’s Charlie Spargo is...Charlie Spargo...

I'd take him if he's going for bugger all.  He's capable of big bags, which puts him ahead of most of our forwards at this stage.  His goal-kicking is suspect too, so he'll fit in well.

Ridiculous.

If anything, he’s a rich man’s Spargo. I’d kill for Spargo to play like Elliott.

But I’m not sure I’d take Elliott, I think his best is probably behind him and I’m not sure about his back.

Completely different sort of player.  Elliott's strength is his marking.  He doesn't play the small forward pressure role.

No, no, please no. There are better options out there.

He is not a good footballer, looks okay in a well drilled team. Knows when to lead etc. He would be an abject failure with our game plan. If we fix up our game plan you will know it because Weidemann will become a good player and all of a sudden worth what he was asking early this year. Put Weidemann in the Collingwood forward line and teach him the system, the leads etc, and he would become a star.

Look what Stephenson did to us on Queens B'day. He would have kicked 10 if he kicked straight. Just a well drilled team who pantsed Goodwin with a game plan that isolated the quick Stephenson against one of our slow back-men.

When considering a player you have to weigh up if they will fit into our system and Elliot would just get lost, then injured, like all the others who don't get given clear instructions.

We are a rabble and it will take men with leadership qualities to right the ship. Elliot doesn;t have them.

How so? They play completely opposite styles of football. One is a lead and mark player and the other can barely take a mark.

A risk but a risk worth taking. If we think Gawn, Oliver, Viney, Petracca, Harmes, Gus, May, Lever, Salem, McDonald etc is the basis of a quality team just short in a few areas then we have to go all in on fixing those problems. What are the two biggest problems - lack of outside run and lack of goal kickers.

Has the potential to go balls up but Elliott's a genuine forward talent on a list that is devoid of them.

This, along with speculation of Langdon and Tomlinson makes me happy. Not so much these specific players, from the outside, it seems we have cash, and, keen to bring in some troops.

Unless of course, the reason we have this cash is on the back of a gun leaving.

If this guy can stay on the park, admittedly a big if, he'd be a fantastic get.  Yes, he's not a small forward crumber but he is an exceptional player who would add some dynamism to our forward line.  Remember how he tore us a new one in that Rnd 23 loss in 2017?

Or if you're spending your future free space. The worst possible result isn't being unable to afford Frost and him leaving or even trading out someone like Brayshaw. The worst possible result is locking in a bunch of cap space then being unable to match a big offer for Petracca after a breakout season next year.

What diabolical price will we have to pay?  Collingwood always try to bleed us dry and leave the leeches on just in case there is a little more blood left.

Or not paying overs for Jones and Frost

Langdon, Tomlinson and Elliot would be a huge trade period.

If Frosty goes we will likely still hold picks in the first and second round to.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
