Can we get this weekend out of the way, so that we can concentrate on the important stuff, trading and drafting.

Pike punched out Neil Balme's PA (a woman) when she said he was not available to talk. That's a bloody good reason to let go of a player. Had he done that at any of his subsequent clubs I'd bet my left nut he'd be exiting soon after.

Surely you are not saying we would have won flags if we kept Pike?

I have no respect for anyone that punches a woman. It is quite telling that he didn't punch Balme,  I imagine Balme would have placated him or if not possible relocate him.

Are you seriously comparing Caleb Daniel To Charlie Spargo??

Eons away! IMV

Well, only 5cm, to be more precise.

Are we sure about this punching thing, I thought he was p-ssed and made advances to one of the females employed by the club and went a bit far.

No he is saying we work with Charlie to give him every chance of developing as he is contracted next year. Another pre season may well  make a big difference.

It won't! IMV

In - Tomlinson (done), Ed Langdon (should be done)

Go after - Ben King, Zac Langdon, Jamie Elliott, Isaac Smith.

Does the trade scene start to get a little more serious now that there's only two teams remaining and the Charles 'Midfielder' Medal is out of the way?

Is Jamaine Jones of the Cats any good? Has just been delisted. They have a lot of small forwards and clearly don't need him.

Is he better than what we have? He would come free of trading.

Jamaine hails from my neck of the woods and I've followed his progress closely.

Outstanding junior,  competent at VFL level but  just not quite good enough at AFL level.  Pass.

Hun reporting that GC hold 'genuine interest' in Billy Stretch after he was told that Dees wouldn't offer a contract until after trade period.

Billy Stretch (Melbourne)

Gold Coast has genuine interest after the Demons told their best athletic player they would have to wait until after the trade period before deciding whether they will offer him a contract. The Suns need to add run after fading late in so many games and he’s only 23 with upside after 47 games.

Definitely gone.

Suns chasing mediocrity? How does one reward such stupidity with a PP?

More improving their depth, just like we're doing with adding players who aren't A graders. Will be great for their culture and standards up there too. Good move for them IMO.

Maybe they’ll use the PP on him..

PSD gets him for nothing.

I pushed Jeremy Finlayson heavily throughout the trade period last year, when rumours surfaced that he was unhappy at the Giants.

I was very disappointed at the time that we didn't get him and more so this season as he blossomed.

This year I like Kamdyn McIntosh of the Tigers, who may leave, especially if not selected for the GF, which is looking likely.

He has height, pace, experience and especially finals experience, good disposal, can mark and kick a goal.

He could be handy off a HBF, HFF or wing and wouldn't be expensive.

I think Jetta and Hibberd are nearing the end of their careers and he could be a handy player for us.

He's a bit of a butcher McIntosh, but if he came cheaply, he'd be a good half back or wing option.

Nice work Billy Stretch! Take the GC money and run mate!

Different trade scenario:

In/Out

Ollie Wines, Pick 9, Pick 27/Salem, Pick 3, pick 57

Langdon/pick 20

pick 28 (32 after PP/Academy)/Frost

Pick 38

F3rd/Stretch

Free Agency: Adam Tomlinson, Jack Newnes and Ryan Lester (utility)

Retire/Delist: Lewis, Garlett, JKH, Wagner

If we are splitting pick 3 I want a really solid talent coming in...or be interested in what Geelong has after Tim Kelly leaves and see who has the most enticing offer for trading down. Shouldn't be trading down just for the sake of it.

We don't need another inside mid, but he can play switch with Harmes/Petracca/Oliver resting forward so we have the right balance in the middle. Port are crazy to be looking at trading him out, or there is something there that isn't public knowledge.

Don't think we will win Elliott, think Hawks or Bulldogs etc will win his signature.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
