Knock back offers from Carlton and Hawthorn and stay at GW$.

Gil has to resign. Destroyed the game.

How the Fuurg this Bloke runs the AFL is totally beyond me.

Surely clubs can lobby and get rid of him!!

I can't believe the arrogance of this man. It is none of his business what any player does with his career or his life. What did Jack Watts tell Roos? we just want to be treated like human beings. This young man is not a commodity to be pressured into a decision he does not want to make, all because someone whose power has gone to their head tells them it is the 'right' thing to do.

Keep your biased opinions to yourself, Gil. Notice you kept silent when the Hogan saga dragged on every year. (Will he go, will he stay?) This was very disruptive to the team and now you are sticking your bib in the Giants business, causing headlines. What a disgrace.

Do you reckon Gil would give GWS a priority pick if Coniglio leaves?

No .... probably two??

I heard him on 3aw last night. Caro went after him on gambling sponsorship. The AFL deal with betting is up this year. He used the if we don't take the money it will be lost to the AFL community. He would be using the same argument if cigarette advertising was still around. The AFL are all about the money it is first, last and in the middle. On top of that he is a poor communicator. She also tackled him about his time off to go to Hawaii earlier in the year. He just avoided the question.

We need a new CEO who is not from the old boys club. Won't happen of course.

Was Caro the one that asked the question od and why the need to? If Gil wants to step out of his CEO ‘shoes’ by answering he’s a bigger fool than I thought.

Do we expect anything more from the AFL? They're  the most unprofessional sporting body in the world.

Agree, apart from NRL, Australian Soccer, FIFA, Cricket Australia, Tennis, US Gymnastics and road cycling.

Wouldn't trust Sheedy.
He'd play to his favourites and holds his grudges.
There's a reason he went after Scully so hard.
It was payback for overlooking him for the coaching position.
And he was prepared to pay a kings ransom to get it.

A sad state of affairs we find ourselves in with this bloke at the helm and his siblings spread throughout the media also feeding off the scraps.

They haven't bothered yet PF and that goes back to VFL era as well.  Don't hold your breath.  All aboard the Gil gravy train... toot toot!

This is all very excellent from Gil.

I'm sure just as he came out for those thousa..... hundreds of GWS supporters to make sure they kept their man he'll be feeling for all us MFC supporters and will go out of his way ( AFL approved extra cash for game development ambassador style role ) for our Petracca and now he's going to stay at Melbourne.

Thanks Gil. A real peoples person. One for the supporters.

Gil got his wish.

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-08-27/star-giant-rejects-bigmoney-offers-to-sign-massive-sevenyear-deal

Carlton and Hawthorn now to have a crack at Langdon, Amon and Papley, players MFC should/are also targeting.

Burgoyne will take 3 years at GCS in a Hodge/Mitchell like role.

Under a 'fairly' run competition, having now re-signed Kelly & Coniglio on major coin, i suspect many clubs would be struggling to retain Cameron under their salary cap when he comes up in 2020, giving others a bit of a look in.

Unfortunately this comp is far from fair and the AFL hierarchy are purely in it for the $$.  They'll do anything to protect and grow their precious.  Any dream we have of putting together a premiership list under Gil will probably remain just that!

I wonder if paper bags exchanged hands for this deal....?

There'd be some shonky sheet going down for sure.

Good time to go after a Giant, as they prepare to make room for Coniglio.

I'd have a go at Finlayson.

Honestly I don't care that Gil had his opinion, he's just not a good communicator. If he had said something like 'it's not my place to say where players should or shouldn't play but of course I like to see senior players staying loyal at fledgling clubs' he would've been fine.

Coniglio will get a big fat multicultural ambassador bonus is my guess. Because Australians with Italian backgrounds are clearly a minority.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
