Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

CASEY: Rd 17 vs Sandringham

Saints have never used Sandringham as a training ground.

Not sure why but I suspect the ground is too small and has cricket obligations during summer.

Sandringham were fiercely independent when we were aligned with them. It was a battle to develop our younger players.

The ground was lengthened a few years back with an excavation at the southern Sautner end.

Cricket is not played there.

The Saints have been busy yoyoing between Moorabbin and Seaford to trai there.

I don't recall Sandringham restricting MFC player development. In fact at the time when we won 3 or 4 flags there I thought a successful culture may breed success.

I am biased living 200m from TBO - the alliance years were great days for me.

just some perspective....

how many of those were grabbing the ball from the ruck

It's a good tactic sometimes but it can be very erratic.

The hit outs were rarely to advantage but that more reflected the absence of Casey mids.

He didn't have a specialist ruck as an opponent

Your positivity is so inspiring, what you meant to say 'a bit of personal perspective'

  • Demonland changed the title to CASEY: Rd 17 vs Sandringham

I just made it in time for most of the last quarter. Bloke at the gate took my $10 and stuck it in his claw with the rest of his wad. No ticket, thanks very much. No wonder they did not want MFC upsetting the apple cart.

As to the game, a pleasure to watch on a beautiful day. Made me remember why I love footy.

Game Plan   - Hard to see one, just noticed some adjustment for the wind and Melksham instructing Lockhart and LeFau where to stand.

Preuss completely dominated and begs the question...…... however I tried to confine myself to the game at hand. Melksham looked fit and ready to go. No one else greatly stood out but I didn't notice many errors either. Kielty took a good mark but this is his level. Someone said Bradke played well early but not while I was there. He looks ok when the ball is in close, as expected with his basketball background but uncomfortable when it comes toward from afar. I hope he makes it but will really need to be committed. No problems with him having another year or two though as if he fills out it could make all the difference. I hope we do not fall for the wrap on LeFau, does not look clean enough although he did kick a goal while I was there. Great to get a win, and special thanks to the nuff, nuff no 16 for Sandy who gave away the free off the ball in the goalsquare in the last.

There was wind? I'm in the "leafy eastern suburbs" and there hasn't been a breath of the stuff all day.

Only saw brief patches but Hore looked good, Melksham a class above, liked a couple of things from Jordon. And I missed what might've been a rough start but Keilty looked good on what I saw down back, he has to be a better option than Oscar? Couldn't fault JKH's work rate from what I saw. Real shame that the Weid went down.

Casey have a final round bye, 2 winnable games and then a huge task of beating top of the table Richmond to make finals. Not out of it but unlikely.

How many cheap hits did he dish out to Jimmy Munro today? To top it off for Steven, Munro ended up with 29 touches, 8 tackles, double figure clearances and 9 inside 50s, BOG yet again from Jimmy Munro, he's really having another superb season

come on Saty... Sandringham had no recognised ruck

Many of his kicks were from grabbing the ball out of the ruck

Hore reads the play so well. I watched him  off the ball postioning up the line as the ball was turned over. He just appears out of nowhere, floats in and clunks it. Times it beautifully.

Can't understand the point of playing Preuss as a tap ruckman against no competition when we know he can do that. It's holding marks in the forward line and kicking goals that will make him useful while Max is around. We run Casey now, let's use them to our advantage.

Press played a great game, and having him run the whole field must help him improve his fitness/tank to take him to another level....

you can get that fitness by having him run 10k each day.

He has to develop another string to his bow and that is what Supermercado has quite rightly raised

So he took advantage you mean, which was what he was meant to do, he will not always come up against one of the top rucks. He is still young in terms of games experience, doesn't matter what experience he gets

Is that the best example you could come up with?  Nick Sautner was one of the greatest VFA/VFL FFs ever.

And totally stuffed Juice Newton's development by Sandy's insistence that Sautner Play FF Which I know was totally against what MFC Wanted. They just refused to budge on this! Just refused OUTRIGHT!!

Not necessarily. Really difficult to improve on base fitness in-season, as it's hard to get the load/recovery balance right (too much of the former, not enough of the latter). Thus the importance of cough pre-season cough.

Running around would help him get more used to what he's currently doing and to managing that, but improvement ... hard to say. Will be a good assignment for Burgess.

Criminal that the Weid is injured again, he desperately needed a full match under his belt. Season turning into a wash-out for him development-wise, he's really struggled to string matches together.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
