Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yes Matsuo I realised that last night. Another ignominious achievement. Prelim  to cellar in 12 months.

Gee I love this club.

If you some of the posters  on DL, jenkins is an average player. I wish our average players kicked bags of 3 or more goals three weeks running.

A six week stint in the SANFL certainly worked for him binman, came back on a mission. Unfortunate he hurt his knee very late in the game, will miss some games now.

Jenkins is a good player and has proven ability over multiple years. Clever body on body, sound kicking action even from long range. He’s a true gorilla at 200cm. Torched us and burned Richmond last night. We could do a lot worse if he’s keen for a move.

If you believe his coach that was true...

He spent 6 weeks in the SANFL for an attitude adjustment.

The way Jenkins played last night was what you should expect from a player of his size.

He has too often played for the easy over the back goal, last night he used his size to break packs and take marks.

The one caveat, it was against a very undersized Richmond defence.

His coach never thought he was average. Playing average perhaps. But not average. So he sent him back to the 2s to find some form. which he evidently found.

Some posters used their (flawed) assessment of his ability as further evidence of how badly omac played ('let a total spud kick 2 on him!'). He then kicks 3 on Phil Davis (supported by a defence that was  not under manned) , arguably the best kpd in the game with rance out. And four more last night.

So omac was beaten by a pretty good player in good form, as evidenced by his next two games.

He kicked 3 on Davis

FYI Jenkins only kicked 2 on O Mac.

If it's good for Jenkins (a more proven forward commodity than T Mac) to have a spell in the magoos, then surely it's ok for T Mac to have a spell as down there as well to find some much needed form.

100% agree. Thst is what the 2s are for.

That said i hope they give Tmac a month off to get right. He is clearly out of form, bust just as clearly carrying something

Agreed.

Ollie Wines has spent a few weeks in the twos, moreso to get his touch and fitness back.  But if is good enough for him as captain (and Hawks ex captain Roughy) it is good enough for TMac, our co-captains and every other player who is not performing over a few weeks or lacking fitness.  Season is lost.  There should be no exceptions.

No, but he didn't like the way he was playing.

That's what lets him down...I've often said he plays like a small man in a big mans body, last night he played the way he should.

It wasn't just form, it's the way he goes about it and there's an obvious change.

..by the way agree with you on Phil Davis, I'm a big fan.

A 200cm forward/ruck who has kicked nearly 300 goals going at 2 a game over a 7 year career. Name anyone comparable we’ve had at Melbourne in 20 years.

He’s not Wayne Carey but to intimate he can’t play is laughable JR.

Last night, and the previous two games.

Agree he hasn't always used his strength to advantage. Gets around the ground well though for a bit fella.

I really hope his knee is ok. It looked awful and it was made worse by the fact the game was dead. Is there any update?

OR .... before we get too fancy and la-di-dah ... maybe the real problem is simply that we're not attacking the ball hard enough?

I am somewhat amused to see Scully decline to tackle in two consecutive contests that his running ability took him to.  All the running in the world doesn't help if you squib once you get there.

Bonus that he then had a free run and bounce through the middle and stuffed up the kick  ?

Hawthorn will be middle of the road for at least another five years so at least we an take some solace that the little plick will never play in a GF.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
