We definitely need more intercept defenders, and how about some more inside mids who can’t kick while we’re at it?! I certainly hope we don’t target any outside run, small forwards or key forwards that would be madness!

[censored] I hope we are also going after a marking forward who can crash a pack and kick a few goals a game.

Keith was originally part of the Suns first intake as a key marking forward, but then went off to play cricket, then when he came back to the game he was tried first forward then settled much better down back. Unless the club thinks he could go back to a forward role (similar to TMac and Petty) then I see no reason at all for him.

We need a strong forward and a pacy midfielder. Recruiting Keath would be stupidity of the highest order. Then again it is Melbourne.

Watch us hand over a future first rounder for him aand give them Billy Stretch or ANB but we will pay their existing contract out, while the Saints get Matt Crouch for a second rounder plus  Eddie Betts.

Victorian-born Keath is reportedly being offered big money from Melbourne while Hawthorn is keen on Greenwood, according to an AFL report last month.

If it is in a trade for Lever and his giant pay packet, then it sounds good to me.

Our defence is the 17th best in the league

For the best part of the year we've had Jetta, May, Hibberd, Lever out while Lewis has done other roles. Only way I understand going after Keath (hopefully not big $$$) is they will utilise May forward with TMAC. Just a thought.

Yeah OK but how many games did may, lever and Hibbard play together other clubs target forwards and midfielders this obsession with chasing defender has left the forward line and midfield with holes, the list is full of defenders, it's getting close to having 15 defender on the list, josh has to go or we will have only defender's on the list.

We've barely had Lever May and Jetta all in the one side this year.

The few games May has played this year pur defence has looked the best it has in a long time.

If we do recruit Keath, where does he fit into the Frost, Lever, May lineup??

Frost is also out of contract currently as we speak.

This the only way I can rationalise this. If they think Frost is on the move and they're after an immediate replacement.

I don't know much about Keath to be honest,  but there is a bit of a love fest for him in the media it seems.

Someone started a thread about Frost to the wing which I initially thought no way,  but it may be worth experimenting with these last few rounds when both Hore n May return.

A bit of Frost Footy into out F50 would be far more unpredictable than bombing long like we do only for the opposition to pick us off every fuggn time.

FFS - these sorts of comments are ludicrous. I would suspect the recruiting team would also be after pace AS WELL as what other players can bring. Remind me how many list spots are available again ??

I believe we have our eyes on an assistant boot studder.

Won't be ANB as he has signed for 2 years.......

And Adelaide apparently had some interest in Frosty a couple of years ago before he recommitted with us.

Keath for Frost, where do I sign?

We are 17th in defence this year, 9th in 2018,  9th in 2017 and 11th in 2016.

But we don't have any room for more defenders because ours are such guns.

You see things in such excruciatingly simple, black and white  terms.

Aaron Francis has put talks on hold at the Bombers due to concerns they have no long term key position role for him. i think he's someone that could improve our side at either end of the ground.

He did SFA up until the back half of last year, and has done SFA since. Massively overrated. Pass.

I heard he won't come to us, so we've decided to recruit an injured nutritionist who we hope can be re-trained as an assistant boot studder.

We'll have to pay overs, but it'll totally be worth it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
