Head scratcher if true. We basically fielded our best back 6 yesterday minus Jetta and we conceded the most points since round 3. Defence isn’t the problem.

Is it a coincidence that anyone who plays as the Adelaide’s third tall defender seems to be a gun... Adelaide’s gameplan and back six set up seems to be a great place for 3rd talls to stack up possessions and intercepts:

Lever

replaced by Doedee

replaced by Keith.

On Keith; if he wanted to come to us and it wasn’t a first round pick... yes- never turn away quality.  But like everyone here I believe that it’s far from a priority.

We can’t trade our first round pick this year . Thank. God!

Which will be pick 1.

The club is lost. Its sick, its in no mans land. Fancy showing interest in Alex Keith.. hey here is an idea.. show some interest in someone who can run and spread and has lovely skills.

The club is spiraling out of control at the moment.. better get out of this spin, otherwise we will crash land and the recovery will be horrendous.

Heath has been a depth player.  He looks good and plays his role because of their system so is apparently in 'AA' form for just two months.

Put him in our, very different, system and every chance he becomes another depth player.

Walk away.

Lol.

Next up, there will be talk of trading picks to get Sam Day (the free agent not currently getting a game at the Suns).

There might be a trade on,  for one of our younger defenders.?  'DZ'.

cheaper option than trading for patton and his heavy contract and buggered knees

Not setting the world on fire....

Rarely in the best however rarely goes a game without kicking a goal.

My first thought is there isn't much to this. He's probably one of 20 out of contract players we have interest in across multiple positions.

Any time you can upgrade a key defensive spot even if you've got money and resources tied up in that area already then it isn't a bad idea to try.

Frost is out of contract so we'll have to either sign him or a replacement anyway. Is spending an early 2nd round pick and an extra 100-200k a year on Keath over Frost a good idea?

Salem, Melksham and Weideman have all signed on. Lewis and Garlett are going. Jones maybe 1 more on a veteran money deal. Oskar Baker the next priority and you wouldn't think he'd break the bank. So if we've our salary cap in decent order there should be some cash to go after some players.

Hey guys, can pretty much confirm there's not much substance to this. The club would look at it for the right price (contract and trade wise), but at this stage this all at the doings of his manager who is trying to ramp up negotiations for his client. Not surprising Tom Morris is involved given the tone of his articles about the club since being basically shunned.

Obviously I'm a random on the internet so take it as you will, but that info was passed on to me by someone who has got much right in the past. Cheers!

Cheers lord nev (love the name by the way)

have you got any other whispers about where we’re looking at the end of the year?

Are we trying to reduce oppositions to the point where 7.15.57 is a winning score?

Haven't heard anything solid at this stage, just the same sketchy whispers you guys would have already heard .

Hard to know exactly where our priorities would lay given how the season has panned out, needs nearly everywhere.

Got a source for that LN?

Not that I can mention other than what I said in the post. Just someone who has passed on good info in the past and I have no reason to doubt. The old someone who knows someone. I get that that probably doesn't cut it, but that's the internet I guess.

Victorian-born Keath is reportedly being offered big money from Melbourne while Hawthorn is keen on Greenwood, according to an AFL report last month.

So nothing new since the last month? btw thats behind a paywall

Do we want to play him as a forward? i don't get it.

‘Big money’? Pull the other. It would certainly have to be below or on the AFL average. Big money in comparison to the average Australian wage perhaps, but not AFL players wage.

The only reason why i can see us going for him is to replace OMAC.

If that is the case, then i thoroughly encourage it. Maybe Frosty might just end up on a wing after all!

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
