It’s always so different watching it on tv rather than at the ground...close games but this was WAY more stressful and worse to watch than the Hawks bumsqueak last week...

6: Salem
5: Jones
4: Oliver
3: Melksham
2: Harmes
1: Gawn

Apologies to Frost, Petracca, and Lockhart in particular

We have a serious footballer in Lockhart I think

5.  Clarry (some very ordinary turnovers of which two were direct goals otherwise No. 1 comfortably)

2.  Frosty (see Clint's comment above!)

HMs ... Hibb (playing a cracker prior to his unfortunate gutsy injury), Viney (up & down but had his moments), T-Mac (effort and the winning point!), FritschKreig, Hunt, Lockhart (starting to find his mojo at this level..footy smarts!) and Hore (mostly for that amazing finish for a backman to help win at the end).

Marty Hore's goal. Neil Crompton in 64 GF?

One against team rules for the win, Hore's was probably part of a trained instinctive play Bobby (i'm guessing).

Either way they both resulted in wins for the club.

In only his 6th game, that goal was one of the greats for this club.  He is young and will no doubt have a few downs here and there but we've uncovered a beauty in Marty.

If Marty does the same thing in the last minute of the last game of the year, then we will all be happy ... ?

6 Harmes - he's really got back to his end of 2018 level and was inspired in the last quarter.

5 Oliver - the other member of the gang-tackling middlemen society. Sent it forward a bit more this week.

4 Salem - our silk out of defence.

3 Frost - seemed to be reading the play better than normal.

2 Jones - kept working his butt off. His wing/midfield switch with Angus has helped, although Gussie is now not so prominent.

1 Fritsch - I was critical of him last week but he intercepted well once Hibberd went off and provided run out of defence.

Hunt very stiff to poll so low this round. He was good all night except for the last 2 minutes where he bought his game to a new level and won us the game. He spots up Hore who kicks the goal to get us level.

Then when Gawn boots and up and under with about 14 seconds left on to the cusp of out 50, Hunt smashes through two of them and the ball spills to Harmes. We win.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
