Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yep many far too easily pleased just wearing the gear and saying Yeah I work for the MFC

Too much complacency!

Normally playing for us, Kent would have pulled a hammy by half time or had some collision injury. Just our luck, he was always a potentially dangerous half forward in a dominate side, but he always got injured when he looked like hitting form.

Kent had his time,  and failed with us...  and was time to move him on.  He has proven nothing to this point, with the saints.

Having just watched Goodwin’s press conference, he does speak well. But it has been the same answers now for 5 weeks.

Not much is going to change i fear

He refuses to believe that his structure has been obliterated since the Prelim...

Hey guys, it's a football match, no need to attack each other. Relax, take another valium, smile, be happy, we lost again, so fluckingwell what? Tomorrow the sun will come up, it'll be abnormally warm again and the rain they've forecast won't fall. There is nothing new under the sun, all is vanity and a striving after wind. Petracca isn’t the problem.

The problem is our game plan, it’s already super ceded , and I fear the players may have lost a bit of faith in it.

When Brayshaw says after round two that the players aren’t buying in, then something is not quite right.

Some issues could be solved with competent coaching.

Fritisch, teach to jump off one foot, not from two flat feet

Weideman, lead to or play on the flank where their is less heavy traffic.

The first open option is not always the best one.

Membrey seemed to have a different defender every time.

There's just no system or structure back there.

jSmith would have been our best option,  I think,   or Lever,  if he was fit ?

We don't have many other 3rd tall defenders...  maybe Tim Smith could have held him.?

After having a few slices of pizza and a few quiet refreshments....

Im really worried.

As others have said, at least with Neeld we knew that the list was putrid and we had to wait for the inevitable "sweeping of the ****" to put it midly.

Goodwin has players that can play. Brayshaw, Clarry, Gawn, Tmac, Salem, Jetta etc. They have proven that they have the know how and ability. What has happened from the highs of the finals (minus that loss to the Eagles) to now, at 1-4 is staggering.

He doesnt know how to fix it - and this is our biggest issue. The defense is wrong - and the stats prove it. Far too easy to score against.
Offense is wrong - getting the ball in there, but no one can mark it or crumb it.

On top of the plethora of players that look unfit or injured and the basics of not handballing to a team mate in a worse position (this ****ing gets me every time) or lowering eyes and kicking straight or creating space and gut running..... we are in for a long season.

Richmond is going to tear us apart and ol' Goody will be sitting in the box wondering where it all went wrong.

Very disappointed in our leaders again today. Viney tried hard but spends most of the time hatching the ball on the ground. Never does anything useful with it. Zero impact. Jones back to his pre cameo playing. Slow, fumbly and error prone. He is a huge liability and generally a non entity on the ground. Needs to be retired or needs to get a blighty to get him off the park for a long time. Lewis MIA, slow and creaky. Gawn, best useless tap out ruckman in the game. The others, who the farrrk are they?

Last year flattered us.  We were terribly inefficient going forward even last year, so we had to generate a stack of inside fifties just to kick a winning score.

agreed  'o_d' .

We had weight of numbers holding it in our half.  So we had to get some scores.

The game has changed away from the congestion of 2015 - 2018.  We all new it was going to for so many years now. with the attendance numbers dropping in recent years.

We did not heed the warning bells and take some quick running players.

We traded our early picks out,  for required tall defenders... but we spent like drunken sailors on at least one of them.

And we let another tall forward go too cheaply into the deal.  When push comes to shove, Melbournefc still blinks too easily.

Yep. Notwithstanding the fact we beat the reigning premiers at their home last year.

It is staggering how much we have regressed.  Despite all the injuries to our key backline fixes it is more than just gameplan.

We can all name many senior players that have had barry crockers. Preperation to the year has to be a bigfactor . Leadership is another. Cockiness is probably another one with players believing their own press.

We are now at the point that if we make finals if will be the biggest comeback since Easter 2,019 years ago.

Not so sure he failed, he was injury prone usually just as he got some form. I did qualify my praise by saying he could be good in a dominating side. He always had some defensive deficiencies. But gee we have some small forward deficiencies at present, no crumming, no forward pressure. Forward set up is a mess and Goodwin seemingly won’t pick Jeffy because he doesn’t meet our contested ball at all costs mantra.

I haven't a clue what to say. It's been a terrible day personally with some terrible news this morning and this has really just nailed it. I came to the game today to get a breather from all that was happening today, and the sad part is I don't regret it. Yep that's right, I would still rather get down to the g to see our beloved Dees belted just to escape from reality for a few hours :(

I am sorry for your loss layzie.   Its a tough time losing someone close.

Hope you keep that chin up mate.

The upside is my family will get to see a bit more of me this winter.

And loving the fact I rushed to get a [censored] GF guarantee before round 1. I WANT MY [censored] MONEY BACK YOU IMPOTENT WANNABES ?

I took my 3yr old boy thinking I’d get a half or 3qtrs maybe. He was bored by the first bounce, we lasted a qtr before walking the concourses for most of second qtr before heading to the kids play area. He bloody loved it, then found the trains and trams so we wandered over for a look.... by the time he was bored of that it was time to head home. Had a ripping day.

PS we are slow of run and worst of all of mind. We can’t think our way around a press. We don’t have players who work hard enough to do so either.

We’re still way light on with injuries but worst of all we look like we missed the boat on tactics around 666 and didn’t train/draft/trade for it.

Saints looked good, people say you don’t need pace it’s all about ball movement but I tells ya from the qtr I saw the pace of the Saints players really closed us down and our lack of pace to be able to break away from a contest was stark.

What a horrible lost season, like ffs Dees just get your sh it together and keep it together.

So... yeah.

Only saw the first 15 minutes or so and had to go by little bits and pieces and looking at the stats as I was out for dinner.  Great night to go out by the way.  Seems like I missed another wonderful performance.

I won't read the posts prior to this, as I'm sure some people will have necked themselves already, but it's clear we've got some serious issues.  You can single out players, but if you go by what has come before today, there are issues with our game plan, especially at the 'G.

But I've moved on.  Not even close to upset or annoyed.  It's not that important right now.  I won't begrudge anyone their anger and I'm not saying it's wrong to feel that way.  In fact, it's probably wrong for me to feel almost... indifference?  But that's the way it is.  It probably helps that I didn't see the game to be honest.

The sun will come up tomorrow when my daughter thinks the Easter Bunny has come, and that's all that matters.

First Easter Bunny egg hunt for my son tomorrow. Puts things in perspective.

I relate to indifference.

I'm taking this quote from Karl Pilkington and changing it from Manchester United to us, but I think it's kind of fitting right now:

"I feel like supporting Melbourne is kind of like having a tortoise as a pet.  I had a tortoise, and they are not entertaining to watch.  You don't watch them, but you know you've got a bit of responsibility to show some interest."

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
