Wasn't Troy Chaplain our forward Coach last season and before in 2017?

Last year our forward entries with Hoges we're rush rush rush and chaotic no system, and now it's no better!

Rawlings May be better but deserves his role at Casey  and Plapp  is midfield I think.

Need a changeover like Tigers or Saints as most  of Roosy's  staff are still safely in trust (too safely me thinks).

I have said it before and again I believe Gary Lyon (yes ha helped give us Neeld and Bails)  should be on board for match day in the box and perhaps greater.

Defence cost us in First Quarter not helped by lack of pressure from midland forwards.

I think Oscar played his worst game last night and Petty (not Kelty) deserve the opportunity to claim that position till the injured return and beyond if he shows his true ability.

FWIW thought Hibbo returned to some form and Nev got back on track last night.

It's also so one dimensional to just punch someone must mark the ball and get it moving to create tun and carry to out forwards.

Hibberd was pathetic. Butchered it by foot and is now running on the spot. He will be gone at years end.

Mathews ...stoppages

McPherson... Football operations.

A lot of people are Not Roos' people ;)

Hird should never be allowed near any sport EVER again.

Lyon has done enough for us...he can stop.

Oscar is one of the most lethargic footballers I’ve ever seen- he looks half asleep and his body language would suggest he doesn’t care. Very little effort is made by him. Frost puts in and looks like he cares but is hopeless to the point of being a lost cause - zero footy smarts. He has taken ineptitude to a new level. Sale is our sole functional back.

Both Matthews and Mac P are!

Chaplsin was employed by Roosy but we need new ideas from successful other Clubs ex staff.

Thats What Tigers and Oies and now Saints have done.

Assistants  need to  get into Goodys head snd bslabce his game plan.

Idmf Matthews hasstoppages then that's my point. Need new plans as another post sums it up All our mids chase the man ( and the ball) and leave no outside runners to carry!

And criminally the opposition has a clear path to hsbdpass and get their game going without pressure!

Pies did it QB and Eagles in Prelim and again this year it's happening.!

Got to stop!!!

Chaplin was not a Roos choice..theres a difference.  He was a Goodwin selection. Roos allowed Goodwin to assemble his own team.

In the end...any of the assistants are only there to do the coach's bidding

But when did Chaplin actually start? Or is it more the crap has started since Rawlings left..

Im not normally one for the throw the baby out with the bath water but I agree

I was at the game and our defensive structure were pathetic... continually leaving open men inside their F50 and guarding no one.

It was an embarrassing shambles

Surely Jade Rawlings can be seconded back to the AFL side to straighten our backline out whilst we sort out a full time replacement for Chaplin.  I know we want the Casey guys to be well coached and get right development, but the AFL takes precident in my view.

Furthermore, I understand that Rawlings probably has senior coaching ambitions of his own, but it seemed incredibly half baked to move him out of his function as backline coach at such a key juncture of our development.

I knew what we were getting when he as an MFC paid employee wore a Richmond scarf to the entire 2017 finals series and carried on like their number 1 fan boy.

I raised this at the time and people here said that club employees can support who they like and that he had played with the Toiges so it was fine for him to support them. I am still staggered that people can feel this way. He is either with us, or with them. Move him on.

Too many loose rinning entries into our Defence makes life unbearable for defenders.

I felt sorry for Frosty who had a horrible night , but you could see on his face and Body language he was dreading the ball coming into his area. To be beaten by blokes half his size in marking contests does not really cut it.

WHen we have three players running in to tackle the ball carrier . Blind freddy could see that there are 2 spare people hanging around in the medium viciiivty i.e NcD-T , Smith McKenna < Zahaha and the list goes on. TWO WAY RUNNING IS REQUIRED.

We stumbled into the finals last year, then played a couple of blinders.  That’s it!!  Our list is overrated and and this club cannot get away from been an easy team to beat.  Supporters are in despair.

Agree that Rawlings should still be backline coach, I sense something is wrong in the coaching ranks.  McCartney needs to mentor Goodwin and settle it all down.

For the first time I am seeing Goodwin under real pressure.

But that’s always how it appears when coaches are crap. Omac and frost took us into the prelim .....6 months ago!  They didn’t have operations either. Whatever has happened since then has sent them backwards at a huge pace. Imo it’s gotta have something to do with Troy. The first quater last night was truly lamentable...imo the most disorganised and comical We’ve  looked down back since 2013. I was shocked. Yes it got better after that but whatever plan they’re attempting to implement clearly isn’t working.

Oscar played on Jack Henry (a defender) and Ceglar (a ruck). You put him on forwards who do nothing and he'll do nothing wrong.

Frost played on Hawkins and we gave him enough cover. Then Roughead who threatened to get us a few times.

Then once they came up against good forwards in the Prelim both got scorched alive.

But that's only half the story, the other half is the midfield and forward line. Against the Cats and Hawks we saw Viney and Harmes put on a pressure clinic. Harmes is trying, Viney is hopefully building. Plus Clarry won a stack of it and Gus was so good against the Cats he was tagged by the Hawks. Big Max dominated as well. All those guys aren't at the same level. Same thing on the wing where Vanders crashed and bashed especially the Cats, Jones was a preseason younger and fresher and Tyson did enough as a fit runner. Not to mention the forward line, the biggest change there is that T Mc has gone from a star to a hobbled mess.

With the problems in our midfield a Rance and McGovern backline probably still gives up 14 goals last night but we win if they do. We probably win if we give up 16 goals with just capable efforts because our midfield was so bad we're giving up 100 to most teams. It's the couple of easy contests that Frost and Oscar give up here or there that turn it to 20 goals that killed us.

The midfield is a problem at the moment but McKernan kicking 4, on one leg for a substantial part of the game.

A VFL forward against a VFL level defence, you could just tip it to happen.

In fact I did to an EFC supporting mate...this will be one of those games he looks like a real footballer as we have no tall defenders.

The only surprise to me was that Zac Clarke didn't kick 4 as well.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
