Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

He’s already been let go by Fremantle, played four games in two years, is mates with bikies and recently been in an altercation with other bikies. What’s not to like?

Might not be remembering correctly (and obviously not exactly the same situation), but didn't we pass on Dusty because he was far too unsavoury for our gentlemanly club?

His old man’s a bikie. Dusty’s known indiscretions and issues are minimal compared with Bennell.

Keep up the good fight 'Ethan', and ' @Pennant St Dee'...

A year like this coming on top of many, many others and I'm nearly ready to do the Robert Johnson crossroads deal...

I'm even finding Hird nearly palatable as an assistant.

I mean, what could go wrong?

Trengove and Scully were regarded as the better players (by some margin).  It's also worth bearing in mind how close Dusty came to crashing completely off the rails in the early years of his career.  It's a credit to Richmond (and Martin) that he got through that phase.

I'm torn on Bennell... individually, he's a massive talent.  However, the baggage that he could bring with him has the potential to poison the whole playing group.  For his own sake, it's probably a good move to try to leave WA... whether he'll find the same trouble over here remains to be seen.

It takes all types to make up a list an an AFL club, Sydney Stack is the latest example of the past being taken into account and then a club backing themselves in to make the environment a place that could work for the player.

I am all in for HB to have a crack with us, in Melbourne, away from Perth, away from the Suns,  the ultimate last chance.

Remember when we didnt take Jack darling  because he was a bit naughty at school , so we took Lucas Cook instead. HB same draft coincidentally.

So, you're saying his Dad is the only bikie he knows?

And I reckon their rap sheets are not that different, it's just that Dusty has been re-branded in the last couple of years.

Missing training due to being hungover, fined multiple times for onfield "gestures", losing his license, threatening to stab a women with a chop stick... Doesn't seem massively different to me tbh.

I was talking about when Martin was out of contract and being shopped around, sorry should have been clearer.

I don’t know what point you’re trying to make and would appreciate you not putting words in my mouth. I’ve never expressed my opinion on Dusty being recruited (if it were an option) so I don’t know why you’re posting as if I’d recruit him and not Bennell. I’m only expressing my thoughts on Bennell and don’t really care for comparisons.

Thought it was pretty clear that we were comparing the troubles of the two and Melbourne's dislike for 'unsavoury' characters.

You said: "Dusty’s known indiscretions and issues are minimal compared with Bennell."

And I countered with examples. Not sure how you've interpreted that as 'putting words in your mouth' or you 'not caring about comparisons with Martin' when you yourself compared them.

Nobody knows what the future holds for Harley and what a move to Melbourne could do for him.

Over the years, demonland has always held this weird ultra conservative view to these types of trades, yet is more than happy to give several years of 'development' to players with a toe-nail of the skill that someone like Harley has. People are still waiting for Oscar to become an AA as an example. Vanders has spent half a decade injured on our list. And let's not revisit some of the high draft picks we've had but wasted over the years.

Give the bloke a one-year contract on minimum bones.

What's the worst that could happen? A failed year for an individual?

We're second last on the fooking ladder with a list brimming with the same weaknesses.

Here's a way of addressing that and could cost nothing. The upside is enormous.

Posters need to think about Hawthorn.

Dew in 2008? Imagine the meltdown here if we picked up a 110 kg elephant? He won them the Grand Final.

Burgoyne? Scully? O'Meara?

It's time for us to do something un-Melbourne-like.

I am in... Need to be more bold. Got a lot of Vanilla Footballers on our list!

Talk about Vanilla. He will be 27 at the end of this season and has played 2 games in the last 4 seasons, of a possible 88 games, for 19 possessions in total. He had 2 x 1%'s in those 2 games that is 1 a game.

Yes talk about Vanilla. Vanilla would be a taste sensation in his case.

I am happy for him to win 5 Brownlows with someone else. We haven't got the time to look after him, we have too much else to do.

Oh and lastly we have plenty of other players on our list who can't get on the park, we don't need any more.

How about pick the absolute best player still available in the draft at our first pick and then develop him properly and give him a good game plan to play to and top class medical and conditioning staff and facilities to utilise.

"Never plays, causes trouble".  Hum along you know the tune.

I appreciate he may not play much and there is huge risk.. Would just love to be bold and have some things fall out way. Not since Jurrah have I been excited about an individual player.. This guy was a star. Best player in the comp for 12 months.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
