Didn't he crack it because he was asked to play the wing and he left to get more time in the centre.

Where is the evidence of that? I'm pretty sure the club instigated the trade.

Good luck for the future Dom, I always thought you gave us everything you had.

He was certainly an improvement on what we had, when he arrived.
but the game got too quick for him

Always welcome back in future

From memory I believe he was told he had a spot with us as an outside mid/wing and if he wanted to find an inside mid role else where he could, and he chose to go to north

His 2014 was near A grade for us.

Pretty sure he polled three 3 brownlow vote games that year - most if not all of them being losses.

A talented player that went backwards by the year, and then was destroyed by injury at North (albeit he was poor in the 5 or 6 games he played for North)

At his peak for us he was one of our best players, all the best DT!!!

What ever did happen to Preuss? He still on a list?

It's a shame things didn't work out for him at North. I've seen him a few times at the Cherry Tree down in Cremorne and the Denis The Menace cafe round the corner. I think he has a golf apparel business with his brother that should keep him busy post AFL.

Preuss is with GWS I believe, but has had back to back long term injuries (including a torn pectoral in the gym) and hasn't played a game since leaving us.

Edit: And best of luck to Dom Tyson for the future - he was a bright light in a crappy time for us when he first came over.

I was always a big fan of Dom Tyson, even towards the end of his time with Melbourne. While he did have his deficiencies, he was generally a very penetrating kick and he had quick hands in close. His career may not have panned out in the way we expected but playing over 100 games is an accomplishment from any footballer.

The biggest highlight of Tyson's career was his two sealers in our win against Hawthorn in 2016.

That was in his first year, he has been fit through 2020-2021.

He had recurring calf problems all last year which has carried onto this year.

ah ok, my mistake then. I thought he had gotten over it since he seemed pretty fit when I watched him play in the vfl match at marvel against Casey earlier this year.

Yes, I would not have picked him but he did his best for us, all you can ask. Seemed a quality bloke.

Saw him in Richmond a few years  ago with a compression bandage around his troublesome calf. I said gday hows it going and he gave me the time of day and engaged in convo and i thought then nice bloke. Played 100 games at elite level which us 100 more than I played. GOOD LUCK Dom!

He looked like the next Pendlebury when we first got him.

Runner-Up for the Bluey in 2014. It's a shame it didn't work out.

It did work out. We got him during his best years, he was a valuable contributor during the rebuild, we continued to build after he was traded out, and he got a much longer career than the average AFL player.

Only pity for mine is he couldn’t quite notch up 100 games for the club.

Dom was a very talented hard working Demon. Very unfairly criticised by Joe boy constantly. His whipping boy. Good luck for your future Dom.

My criticisms were proved justified

One of the nicest blokes you would ever meet.  Absolute quality individual.

Dom Tyson was a great young bloke and was very good with my kids at any event.  Injury killed his career and he couldn’t get that extra pace needed at AFL level.  He had a few very good years and yes he was critical in turning around the club with some wins in 2016-18 especially the sealers v the Hawks.  Good luck young man.

Hate to say it, but I'm pretty convinced the knee injury he picked up at our miserable 2017 pre-season camp caused the steady decline in his career after so much early promise. His kicking penetration and agility in close never really looked the same again.

Was shot when he left us, so glad he got a couple more seasons before wrapping up.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
