Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I reckon if we were trading Hogan, Cam Pederson would have been offered another year on his contract

Perhaps Gawn/Preuss will be the third tall behind TMac and Weid?

And those posters, myself included, were going by the fact there was no proof. All signs were that he was happy, so why would we trade him?

Now that there is more info it changes things. That info is still unconfirmed, but there is potentially more legit stuff now.

Gday Wiseblood...we often dont see eye to eye. Thats part of the wonderful make up of this form...the opportunity to have a different view ;)

Whether this finally transpires or not, it in a fashion, simply vindicates the stand some of us had that this was in all likelihood a much better than evens chance of occurring. And should it...what could /would/should  we do about it.

Some of us were pilloried  for even suggesting such a thing . For mine its simply about a very basic maxim.. " never say never ( in this case footy ) "  Id agree that some things are beyond 'not-likely' to the point of "forget it" but then a lot in this game falls to the ...."well, let's just wait and see"

Should he go it's a very unique opportunity to upgrade some of our stocks. Chances are The winning suitor will pay whatever is required to win the deal. A bit like us and Lever

An interesting off season ahead wouldnt you think

Hogan is worth more than LEver, who cost us two first rounders.

So youre spot on.  And we can throw in Dean Kent .

Finally we get a realistic assessment.

I would want their first pick and the Neale pick and Brayshaw, with which we might get May for one of those picks.

Then the deal would be May, a top rated young player and Brayshaw. That is what a smart club would achieve.

Hogan cost us 2 top picks and we have stood by him, as he has developed through a lot of lost games through injury and illness and is now entering his best years and he is contracted. I want a great deal IF he wants to go, or forget it. The Dockers are desperate for a big fish to calm the members and he would be a whale.

Heres the current draft order.  Gold Coast and Freo hold picks 2 and 5.  I would want both for Hogan, and nothing less.

It's not GC's pick it would be Lions' if they get Neale and give it to Freo.

After GC gets 3 for Lynch it would be 5 & 6 if that was the scenario.

I would want both and try to keep both and find a player and a later pick to satisfy GC for May.

Then we are in for some chance at exciting talent.

so you'd want the equivalent of three early first rounders (Brayshaw was 2 IIRC).... wow that is a high asking price

IF this is true and IF we trade Hogan for ONE first round draft pick this site is going to melt down. Yes he can hold us over a barrell and say he's leaving at the end of next year anyway I suppose....but there is just no way in hell he's not worth way more than a one top 10 pick.

Again IF this is all accurate does that put us back in the bracket to land Gaff?

Those who think we will play 'hard ball' need to think again.  We started off doing that with Lever (1st rnd + 2nd rnd picks) and then gave in.  And last week Jason Taylor said:  "If we target a player we think can help our list improve and it's an area of need; we believe in dealing fairly with the other clubs involved,".  So don't expect us to go all tough guy now.

Having said that I can't imagine we will give Jesse up for just May.

GCS have pick #17 so I could foresee Freo's pick #5 to GCS for May and pick #18, a pick we can make very good use of - gets us back into the first round and could get us the outside run we need or package it up for an even better first round pick.

Edit: that is better than the Lever trade which was pick 2017 #10 and 2018 #15.

myth? literally as soon as hogan went out we beat 4 top 8 teams in a row.  naive to think its coincidence. it also happened last season.

Sigh... I'll go through it yet again...

LITERALLY as soon as Hogan went out, our average score per game dropped for the season. It's not Naive. It's a fact. He's a superstar of the competition and we're not "better" without him, no matter what garbage footy media you're swallowing.

What's Naive is thinking that because Kingy has to write articles about potential trades, it suddenly makes sense to trade away arguably the best KPF in the game under 25.

Jesus I'm getting sick of going over this. He missed 2 H&A games and 2 super finals in which Weed played well, but didn't even come close to playing the kind of footy Hogan has played for... going on... 4 years now.

Don't believe everything you read Doc. We're not better with Hogan playing for someone else. And he hasn't been "found out"... He was playing injured since the bye, and on one leg still managed 2 100+ SC games, and 2 in the nineties before he had to call it a day. You want to see a player found out? Wait and see what happens when they lock down on Weed as he grows to superstardom.

Yep it is but you have to try. Well Lever was 2 high picks at the time and Jesse is worth more as a key forward who can play in the midfield, than a sweeping defender.

Personally I want to keep him, but we are talking on the basis he wants to leave.

Zero chance of that happening.

If May is involved in a Hogan trade, it will be to round out the deal.

Please read or quote the paragraph that followed that line you selectively extracted from a very well reasoned post and realistic option for a trade!!

Our club's idiotic if we are spooked into trading him when we could have stuck to our guns....we won't get his true value Steven May pffft

No one's been spooked. This sort of thing happens from a long way back. Dont get suckered in to believing  player/manager/club speak during a season.

The MFC will know EXACTLY what its doing

I love Jesse but he would go home with the blessing of all Demon supporters surely.  The bloke has been through some dark times in his personal life.

Cant help but get excited over the haul we would get in return for him.  Could set us up for 15 years.

We were belted down back on Saturday but, poor performances aside, I'm not sure David Dench and SOS combined could have stemmed the tide. I can't help but wonder that chasing May is simply a kneejerk reaction. Oscar McDonald is coming along and Petty will also come along quickly. We really lost the prelim because of lack of outside speed and West Coast players sweating on the ball moving from inside to outside. Petracca flicking the ball to space and an awaiting WC player was just one of a number of examples

To my mind, a Jaidyn Stephenson type is what we require. If Oskar Baker continues to track the way he was prior to injury, he also represents an injection of real pace and outside run. And if we were to receive two picks I'd also be looking at someone with the capacity to deliver the ball inside 50 with precision.

Perhaps I'm viewing things differently to the majority of posters in respect to this.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
