You never know, Jesse might be so angry at Freo, that he signs an extension with us and we move on.

Need to get into Jesse's ear and say that as an extension of the MFC, that insult of an offer is Freo's view on both the MFC and Jesse. We want you, serious enough to put a long-term contract in front of you, with that offer Freo are simply not serious in bringing into their club.

Unlike @DeeSpencer I don't think it's a tactically smart offer.  Unless, of course, Melbourne are fools and I don't think they are.

It's never smart in a negotiation to make an offer that the vendor doesn't even need to consider.  Never make an offer that is so easily dismissed it doesn't warrant thought.

You may think it's clever, but it's not and it invariably weakens your position.

Re your questions: I'm just guessing....:

1.  Keen because we'd rather lose him now than in a year

2.  We don't know they aren't enraptured. They may just be very odd negotiators.

3. Maybe WCE are or would like to be but I understood they had nothing to trade now.

Three good answers.

1) yes....but we seem really rather keen...than just viably interested. Might just my take granted.

2 ) without doubt...they have their own way of dealing. Maybe they're far cleverer than we credit. It is after all about outcomes.

3) might well be the case. But don't seem the slightest interested.

And 4) though it makes sense to stay quiet ....the silence from the Hogan camp sets new standards !! lol

I somehow feel ..now... A revision to pick 5 ( if/when eventually theirs ) and a second rounder WILL be the deal.

That might fly for all parties save 99% of Dland lol

I thought originally a player would be involved. Maybe not now.

Low ball offer, which is so low it’s laughable, and the Beams story being traced back to Fremantle. I wonder who was coming up with the stories to de-value Hogan’s worth.

Small man syndrome and ego are a bad combination. It’s not about ‘winning’ the trade it’s about coming up with a deal that is beneficial to both parties. That offer is quite possibly the worst thing Fremantle could have done.

I saw a snippet of an interview with Bell where he said that keeping Neale would be a great feather in his cap as the new football manager. A feather in your cap?  It’s not about you, wee man.

Fremantle are the biggest clown show of the trade period so far.

I doubt Jesse would be insulted by Freo making low offers.  I'm sure they'd be telling him it's just their opening gambit and we love you.  Of course they may find it is their final offer if MFC walk away.

Listening to Steve Rosich on Trade Radio was quite puzzling, not to mention delusional. Reckons they want to keep Neale and won't accept pick 4. Currently they have picks 5 and 77? And been linked to Hogan, Lobb, Duncan, Conca......so they are going to have to give something up somewhere along the line this year.

Agreed. Freo have tried to approach this as though they had some sort of a position of power in this situation, which they do not.

The biggest risk of such an obviously inadequate offer is that we walk away from the table, and they need to offer overs to get us back

time to walk away from the freo negotiations. leave them to chase us if they have something substantial and acceptable to the club. Talk to GCS about how we can facilitate getting May across to the dees without Freo's pick.

If freo eventually come back with a decent offer we could spend that on an early draft pick.

Personally i am not a great hogan fan, he has enormous potential that he is just not harnessing, he gets lazy around contests and is not a noted chaser or tackler. Yet he has kicked a big bag of goals, so his upside is huge. May is a reasonably good backman i doubt he is going to get much better. so i see we are likely to be the looser out of any deal.

No surprise to see us knock the offer back. Who wouldn't?

I doubt it's over, though. Still plenty of time for things to change. Freo will come back to the table with a much better offer before trade week is over.

If there going to be a bunch of wankers and offer that then I’d rather they sit down with Jesse and work on extending his contract.

Talk about trash your brand, Freo's  amateurish Hogan offer is bad enough, and if it's true that they were spreading of malicious rumours about Beams then their behaviour will harm them in inter-club dealings for many years to come.

So Freo have now thrown 3 players into limbo:  Neale, Hogan, May.

I wonder how long May will wait before he makes his next move:  sign at GC or look elsewhere.  Practically, its tough for him to keep hanging on.  Eddie or Ned Guy probably picked up the phone to call him as soon as they saw the stupid Freo offer.

Imagine what Hogan is thinking. Fremantle  really don't rate me.  If they did they would make a realistic offer.

I wouldn't deal with those Freo ar%^&*# at all during this trade period. There offer is insulting. Don't going shoving extensions in Jessies face just give it to him what real cakeholes they are. Hopefully he will change his mind.

Nah... this line of thinking is bollocks. There are still the sweet nothings in the ear of Hogan, who also understands that Freo are trying to position themselves for the future also.

I dont think it is their final offer.... But Melbourne ought to walk away.....unless something realistic comes in the mail....and by that  realistic to whatever MFC considers so  ( really...not publicly )

But is it better than Collingwood's plan A?  May was bound for the Pies just a few weeks ago.  Reckon they see their chance to sneak in the side door and get him.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
