I would be playing Hogan off Half Back in 2019. I don’t think we have seen the best of Jesse yet. Not by a long shot.

Personally i don’t think his kicking is good enough to be a key forward.

But i certainly wouldn’t be trading him for pick 6

I think his field kicking is some of the best going around.  He has a few staggers at set shots, but watching him deliver on the move to another player is different.  I really rate this part of his game.  In a way, he could be a bigger version of Petracca for us.  Shifting him to HB could be an interesting idea, or using his power, marking and aerobic capacity on the wing (a great marking target as well) could be another option.  Personally I see him as the roaming CHF type who would be damned hard to match up on, with Weids and TMac deep.

Can't believe the myth that we look better with Jesse out is still going.

myth? literally as soon as hogan went out we beat 4 top 8 teams in a row.  naive to think its coincidence. it also happened last season.

I'm not convinced Hogan will leave, but if we got 2 top 10 picks in this year's draft (Neale pick and their own) and held on to them (not that keen on May) I would probably need to change my underwear.

Yes i agree, Jesse is a Melbourne player and will still be a Melbourne player in 2019.

Read the articles out there. All looking into things and taking words and spinning them. Jesse isn't leaving

Now he's apparently agreed to go to Freo .. How do these media outlets get approval to run with these headlines.

Now thats click bait.

Its an article about a article with no by line to it.

If a reporter had that info they would put there name to it with an exclusive tag

I've got a mate in AFL Media - he was 100% convinced last year that Jesse was off.

Seems to me they've recycled the same story again.

Dont you love the media? In the article it says "The Australian’s Greg Denham reported on Tuesday that Hogan has agreed to a blockbuster deal with the Dockers and will force the Demons into a trade this trade period."

In Denham's article the closest he comes to saying that is "Should Hogan agree to return home, the Dockers will have to give up a first-round selection to Melbourne in return, which the Demons would have to on-trade to Gold Coast to secure May."

Nothing about agreeing to a blockbuster deal. If Hogan had agreed Denham would most certainly have said so.

love the lack of quotes and citing of sources there. FMD, journalism in this country is so amateurish, there is a complete lack of integrity.

Would get more accuracy from Chinese whispers than through media outlets nowadays, lol.

For the MFCSS sufferers out there, fear not. Hogan cannot sign a contract with Freo due to him having one in place with Melbourne until the end of the 2019 season. He can only sign off on one once we agree to trade him, which would result in the outcome being of great benefit to us, as oppose to being held over a barrel for scraps. Fear not.

What a load of absolute codswallop! denham simply guessing and people quoting Denhams " information" . Sheesh we live in a strange age. Plus there is no way in hell that,  even if Denham was right ( which I highly doubt)  that we would agree to trade him for ONE first round draft pick. Stupid  frikn story. My head hurts.

Denham is only giving credit to made up rumours of Hogans departure fanned by some talk back radio hosts desperate to talk about something and posters from Demonland.

Also Hogan is worth a top 10 pick and a later first round pick as a minimum. Young but established Key Forwards are almost impossible to trade for.

Unfortunately if Denham has reported it, then it's likely to be on the money...

We're not talking Brad Hardy here, like him or not Denham is a serious journalist and has runs on the board.

@Pennant St Dee, how do you rate Freo's young key defender. Is is Pearce? and is he worth part of the deal?

If the story is correct I would be looking at a player plus...a pick or maybe 2 players.

We're in the so called window and don't need picks at the moment unless we can on trade them for needs.

he could of course say... "trade me or I go next year" as a restricted free agent.

Life isn't straight forward... Players now decide... clubs take what they can get

That's fair, but he never said Hogan had agreed to a deal. Just that Freo were going to offer him a massive deal and that they think they can get him, which is the same news we have heard for two years now.

The other article ran with his news and then claimed he agreed to a deal, which is not what Denham said. It will snowball from here.

He would do that.   I dont think he'd screw Melbourne over.

Isn't Jason Taylor on record as being very keen on young Ed Langdon? He's a small defender though...

Pearce is another Omac.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
