Every team that has drafted a Rioli has won the #AFLGFAFLFinals_2018.png within 3 years. 1990: Hawks draft Willie Sr. Win ‘91 flag. 1998: Dons (rookie) draft Dean. Win ‘00 flag. 2007: Hawks draft Cyril. Win ‘08 flag. 2015: Tigers draft Daniel. Win ‘17 flag. 2016: Eagles draft Willie. ‘18 flag?

Any Riolis available ?

Seriously Toby Bedford is the electrifying small indigenous forward on my list for MFC.  He has pace skill and tackling pressure.  Get the kid

Worth a look.

He's too introverted.

And every one of us has been lamenting taking Toumpas (a running outside mid) over Wines (the slow competitive type we are stacked with) for years.

We can’t have it every way.

Ok, well let’s not recruit any fast, skilful players because one we did Pick was a spud.

Let’s go and find more Tysons & Maynards because we mustn’t have enough of those slow, unskilful types.

Electrifying Aboriginal forwards

I think that is illegal.

I would back the MFC to be the exception to this rule should we ever draft a rioli. That damned Norm Smith curse.

We need a couple badly.   You won't find too many Premiership winning teams, or even runners up, that didn't have some indigenous magic on the park.

It will be the icing on our team of big contested ball winning brutes.

I want another Aaron Davey, a Jeff Farmer and their sons.

You trying to get me arrested MD?  lol

I believe we once went to the draft intending to pick up a Rioli, but the dyslexic recruiter read out Rigoni instead.*

* no disrespect to Riggers, one of my favourites!

That is not what I said. Drafting is a complicated art.

We need fast skilful players but they have to meet other critearia and be obtained at a fair selection / price

Jeffy is still on our list, whether or not the magic has gone from him remains to be seen. But I do agree that I would like to see us look at recruiting a skilful fast indigenous player, there’s no doubt they seem to have some kind of magic that’s impossible to describe.

I’d love an Aaron Davey v2!

I’d love to see a Garlett resurrection but feel like we might be up the creek on that.

Wonder if hes available?

Gold Coast still have so much talent.  Can you blame their kids for not flourishing up there?

If we could get Martin and Koladlaldashnij it would be huge.

Jack Martin is going nowhere.

Looking at the state leagues top goal kickers.

Shane McAdam - my mail is Carlton pick and trade him back to the Crows

Tyson Strengle - out of contract Tiger rumoured to go to the Crows

Anyone in the West know anything about Cody Ninyette or Michael Bennell?

When is Farmer's son eligible for the draft?

Lots of speculation linking him to Essendon, but can't imagine GC would let him go cheaply. Another coming out of contract in 2019.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
