And how ironic that Selwood once told Chunk he was the worst captain in the AFL, step aboard the Karma Bus duckwood

Yes. I reminded everyone within earshot about Selwood’s attack on Jones immediately after that goal.

I think we need to find another Vanders clone in case he goes down. His pressure on the opposition and tackling is immense, it rattled Geelong and had them second guessing themselves when they had the ball.

I heard that Hit on Murdoch 50+ meters away.

Flopwood deserves a fine for this flop.

I dunno, if Viney slightly bumped me with his little finger I would probably go down harder. That other bloke is only human, after all....

So am i... I'm just starting to think towards the next moment.

We were warned last week, or before last match;,,  about celebrating... that still rings true, more-so now we have tasted some,,, success.

By Monday, we should all be letting this one rest,,, as we go deeper into springtime.

Over celebrating, get of it no  one warned us for over celebrating, it was only Judd saying that rubbish, if Judd never said it that would not even be in your post. You want to see over celebrating watch the way Geelong celebrated after they beat us after the siren, our celebrating has not even been over the top its only been like every other team. Don't make me angry, it's as if we are the only ones who aren't allowed to celebrate.

Chris Scott’s reaction during  last nights game. I wonder where the players get it from!!!

CLASSIC.

He does that after almost every free kick paid against them every game, the media have to come out and point this out, no other coach except for his twin carrys on that much after frees against. He is the biggest sook and that kind of unsportsmanship behavior should be singled out.

I have had a lovely afternoon - kicked back and watched the replay and relived the glory of last night.

God we were good... tough and completely switched on right from the beginning.

I had a good look at the Geelong moron who dresses like a cat complete with the whiskers and claws - seriously??

My source tells me that the players all pulled up well after the game which is good.

Go Dees❤️?

That man normally has a dress on, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I have never seen the Dees tackle like that. It was Richmond-like. Absolutely epic effort.

It was more than Richmond like, Richmond tackle in numbers and are quick to pounce on the ball carrier but our boys tackled with a ferocity like I haven’t seen in a long time. Geelong players were hit hard, thumped into the ground and one tackle (forget who it was, watching replay tonight) the Geelong ended up on his neck and shoulders. They didn’t expect what we gave them and it left them hurting.

Judd was, I think,  talking about on the ground, after the game.

I'm not talking about hard celebrating,,, Enjoy It... But wanted to warn about celebrating too long on this win, and looking back... and not readying for the next challenge,  leaving this game well behind.  This is what I was getting at.

Monday night should be the end of this one, hopefully.

Agreed mate, before the season I had making 2nd week of finals as par. Last year making finals was par and we shot a bogey, this year we've made par as far as I'm concerned so if we hit a birdie or an eagle it's all bonus for me (I'm a golf novice so if I've muddled up my terms forgive me).

Weed has been a revelation for me, I didn't necessarily doubt him I just wanted to see it before I believed it. I did have lingering concerns he may be another Watts or even Lucas Cook but those have been violently laid to rest. What do we do next year when TMac, Weed and Hogan are all fit? Send TMac back? A nice problem to have.

I say keep them all forward and rotate them through the square. They are all mobile and take a good grab.

Go Dee’s....!!!!!

Just watched the replay.  There was a lot to like, but I reckon that there is a lot of stuff that can be ‘cleaned up’ to make us even better.  Absolutely loved the attack on the contest.  When we were smashing in, and looking to move the ball with speed, we looked like world beaters.

There were moments in the forward 50 where a fraction more composure would have translated into goals.  The marking of TMac an Weids was a highlight, as was Max’s ability to get back or forward to impact contests.

Special mention to Lewis and Salem.  Critical in our win.

Against Hawks we need to stop outside spread and uncontested marks.  Do that, and I beleive they will have little answer to us.  IF we allow them uncontested possessions we put ourselves at risk.  The game style on Friday night will hold us in good stead.

We need to take our chances and take the game on from first bounce to last siren.

Any one got an informed opinion on Goodwin and the FD's game day coaching for the EF? Personally I find it hard to decipher... but have noticed that the plaudits go to the players, rather than anything that the coaching stuff have done on the day.

Goodwin seems big on ‘systems’.  He coaches primarily through setting systems and backing his players to deliver it.  Seems like he holds his nerve and maintains a ‘system’ in each game.  He will shuffled players around to maintain the system for that game.  That’s my read, anyway.  I wonder when he would throw a system out and in game (perhaps at a quarter or half time break) change up what we are doing??  So far, he has been relentless at hanging on to a system.

I think the way we have based our game on contested ball and hard ball wins allows each game to have a ‘system’ of play based on this.  Our fundamentals set the stage for the in game strategy.

The EF seemed like the system worked, so no need to change.  The real coaching masterstroke was the way we destroyed the 3 monkeys.  We didn’t have a plan for Kelly, and he was perhaps the one that got away.  Our defensive system and offensive system looked good, too (although inaccuracy was a sign of rushing and pressure, rather than system failure).

Just got back home in Brissie after taking Sons and Grand Sons down for game. Being an ex Vic boy and been 20 odd years since at the G I could not ask any more from this team. We had an absolute ball amongst 80k Dee supporters at the G on Friday night. They bring the same intensity against the Hawks and clean up our entries into forward half and kick straight we are a big chance.

It was unbelievable walking down to the G from our accom in East Melb. I reckon it must have been 3 to 1 Dee supporters out of ground and seemed about 10 to 1 in the ground. What a night.

Not sure if already mentioned but 7 seconds into the last quarter but did Selwood dive from Viney contact? Jack was honestly confused by the free but it doesnt mean it was not there. I guess when you have a reputation people are suspicious.

The tackle after was karma maybe.

Toughest collective Melbourne side I can remember and I was there in 87! So proud of them. Walked around the local footy oval today in regional location in NSW. A guy asked if it was a Melbourne Jumper (and weren't we the team that hadn't been in finals for ages). "Yep" I said and he said "Then there's hope for my Panthers!"

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
