Actually I think everything he has done tonight has been OK. All his disposals have been clean and have gone to a player in a better position. Not a game changing performance by any means but not woeful.

I've lost count how many times thats been said about him over the journey.

Hes a 171 game veteran, and yet still plays like a 2nd year player.

Bombers massively overrated by media. Have had a charmed run meeting injury depleted sides for their “best wins”. GWS, WCE, Port, even Sydney were missing plenty. Not to mention Richmond last week. Ladder absolutely reflects where they are at.

Cameron Ling writing us off in the finals due to lack of experience, and the Cats can go deep in September but hes not being biased he said.....

Well he has gone to the "Channel 7 finishing school" to be able to come out with waffle like that. Biased my foot. Stupid, stupid comment only outdone by his looks.

He was also one of the lowest ranked players on the field. His career is running on fumes now unfortunately. This will be his last contract.

Stress free Non -MFC games this weekend.

Potting Watts, Motlop and Rockliff is barking up the wrong tree

Port have a massive cultural issue with the likes of Wingard, Gray, Westhoff and Dixon

Selfish footballers who never, ever involve teammates

It might be Watts' last contract, ever, but Hinkley needs to take charge now or he'll be gone too

With Ports loss we are now guaranteed to play in September. Well done boys.

Say what???

Port could have won by 40 goals and they still wouldn't have made it.

Geelong were the only ones with any interest in that game and I doubt they were even watching.

So it turns out our drought-breaking, finals-securing win was the 90+ point win over Gold Coast two weeks ago. Sure didn't feel like it at the time.

Imagine we lost last week and tomorrow, most likely 4 teams would miss finals on %. Crazy year!

You obviously didn't notice Westhoff mark 30 out on an angle, but clearly gettable, pass to Ryder straight in front, but a bit further out.

Westhoff had 5 goals at the time and that would have been number 6 for him.

Great to see Melbourne supporters attempting poetry first thing in the morning.........you just know the teams doin ok when that starts happening.  :)

The Hoff and Robbie Gray are two of the most unselfish and brilliant players in the competition

Westhoff in particular is severely underrated everywhere outside of Alberton

Port’s midfield is very one-paced outside of Polec - and it looks like he’s definitely on his way to North for their first round pick, which they are desperate to get rid of so that they aren’t forced to pay ‘overs’ for Tarryn Thomas

Goddard - anyone?  It’s not beyond reality. He is still very good.

As our runner. He'd be great at delivering the messages.

Goddard to maybe the Blues or GC,  but nowhere else IMO.

Oh well BJ won't get to star in his premiership movie he said would be written after the drugs saga.

Hird can now stop predicting essendon can win the premiership.

No, I only watched snippets of the yawn fest

My post is based on long term observations and actions, not one incident

Posters are bagging out Watts, et al, but their cultural issues run deep

Ports mid-field was seriously exposed.

With Leuenberger off the field, Ryder should have had a field day with Stringer as his opposing ruck.  But there was no-one to hit it to.  Incredible.

Ollie Wines not sighted for most of the match.  Wingard doing anything but kick the ball.  Gray looking for the season to end.  If it wasn't for Westhoff kicking 5 the result would have been very, very ugly......and we don't want to give the drug cheats that much hope for next season.

Incorrect. Geelong is likely to win, therefore if Port were to win by 150 and we were to lose by 150, they'd have come in for us. It went right down to the wire.

OK you got me there Prada....  But I think it would have to be closer to dare I say it 186 each way lol.

Our +/- is over 500, Ports is just over 100!

Freo, please show some pride and avenge last weeks woeful performance.

Nobody, I repeat nobody, wants the Pies to finish top 4 and everyone wants Melbourne to steal 4th spot from them.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
