Im expecting nothing less than a double team on Franklin, They went to him 90% of the time against the pies. If this doesn't happen its total incompetence from Goodwin and his coaching goons.

I want to pack these A holes up for the year and make statement of intent sunday

Im call this #NoExcuseSunday

Only trouble is they may be getting Rohan back, which makes their forward line that little bit more complex.

But the case is pretty clearly there for having an extra in defence to at least break even and mop up the mess. In what is likely to be a grinding game the last thing we want is for too many easy goals to slip through against us.

If I recall, we were playing that night for the record of most games won (4) in 16 days or something ridiculous like that. Not to mention it was our first Friday night game in eons. Not to mention the Swans were flying. Not to mention Tomas Bugg.

Our season came to a screeching halt that night and honestly we did well to get as close to finals as we did.

Yeah, i went that night....it was the pits. Think it might help us come Sunday somehow. Ill be there.

Those same people will jump off us again when we drop one to the Eagles, and will jump back on when we beat GCS in rd23.

I bet my scarf on it.

I want to know who kidnapped Ding, and also who this poster is, and why is he using another persons account.

I can see us losing our last 3 games. Buddy will likely destroy us this weekend.

People are allowing themselves to be sucked in by killing garbage sides. I'm not on the bandwagon until we account for the contenders.

Uh oh, we've been talked up, it's a big high profile game being broadcast everywhere, and there's a lot to gain.

I must not panic. I must not panic. I must not panic.

By the way, if all the right results happen this round, we can actually be two games and 15% points ahead of 9th (Geelong), with obviously only two rounds to go. For once we'd be on the good side of the 'only really a mathematical possibility' saying.

In fact, in a show of how mad this season is, all but the Richmond - Gold Coast and the Carlton - Fremantle games matter to our final position.

Best Case - The right results in seven games, and we are not just in the 8 at the end of the season, but secure in at least 7th with any chasers needing to win all remaining possible games and gain at least 15 percentage points, just to catch us even if we lose both remaining games. We would also only need one more win, specifically against GWS in the final round, to guarante a top-4 finish.

Worst Case - We finish the round as one of four teams on 12 wins, two inside the 8 and two outside, with another two teams on 11 wins. And we'd have by far the toughest draw of the four teams on 12. Of course, we'd also still only be one win out of the top 4.

I've been annoying people for weeks saying over and over each week that 'this is the most important game for the Demons in almost 12 years', but, well, this is the most important game for the Demons in almost 12 years.

Soooo what you’re saying is we’re going to finish 9th with the smallest difference in % ever between 8th and 9th?

If we defeat Sydney then Geelong will rise above them with a win, and disbelievers will still claim that we haven't beaten anyone in the top eight! :D

Maybe its because the weather is getting warmer , or maybe Im just getting lost in the hype,  but this game feels just like a final. Way more so than the game vs the pies in round 23 last year...even though that was too.  Im never one to be too optimistic pre game but I reckon we might just play out of our skins and smash them on Sunday. This will both keep us in the top 4 and demonstrate to the team how far we can go this year. Setting us up for a massive 6 weeks or so. Dees by 40+

Anyone know if there is a training session scheduled for tomorrow? I’m off for shoulder surgery and was going to be around the area.

It’s scheduled for this morning. 9.45am according to MFC site.

@000 Kevin Martin....you there?

Edit: Hope the surgery goes well, we need fans waving both arms.

And if we beat wet coke people will say we got them when they were still reeling from the Gaff incident.

And if we beat GWS people will say it is only because of their wretched run with injuries.

Not sure why you're so negative. :)

We'll win our remaining three.

This was obviously meant to read GWS instead of GCS. Cant edit that post for some reason.

Either way, we will play finals :)

Haven't had time to do a lot of research on this, but it seems when looking at the Swans games their opposition seem to kick a lot of points, only 6 teams have more goals than points against them this year. Putting this down to the pressure they can put on those having shots on goal either in general play or forcing them to have set shots from out wide. We need to not only generate a lot of inside 50s but also get good shots on goal, a high scoring game won't suit them.

Herald Sun going with the sensationalist headline that Gawn is in doubt for this game as he isn't taking part in the training session, even though he is there.

Of course I'll wait to hear more before assuming anything, but I'd wager they are giving him the morning off to keep him fresh going in to this weekends game.

They also mentioned that Hibberd and Melksham trained away from the group but looked good, so hopefully that means at least Melksham returns this weekend.

Our year depends on the next 3 weeks. I will have to do some heavy shopping at Murphys.

The irony is that if we beat Sydney this week we STILL won't have beaten a top 8 team... Im sure someone will find a way to bring that up

Just changed my flights around and will be attending the game.  First home and away match for me this year.  I'm stoked!

Intrigued to see what happens at selection tonight.  Tipping one change only.  Melksham if fit, Wagner if not.

Such a massive game!  Sick of being pushed around by this mob, really hope Oliver, Trac and the new guard give them a pantsing.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
