He should man up and do a Daniel Chick.

Absolutely. Icy Pole stick and a roll of Gaffer Tape.

Out for the year

”It’s a Joke Roy...”

Just when he was hitting some good form, bad luck Billy come back asap.

Billy Stretch had 7 good consistent weeks playing for Casey before he was picked to play against Fremantle. Deserved his spot in the side and having 24 touches to boot. However that good form has carried into his last game and looked as though he had turned the corner as he looked comfortable showing a touch of class.  He will prove to be handy if we make the finals. Good luck Billy hope it doesn't take long to heal.

Pies have similar issues when they trained on it? Mission has some questions to answer? Boots?

Seems like we have a high ratio of foot issues.

That's a shame for him and us as we need outside run at the G. He was much improved Vs Freo compared to his form earlier this year and late last year.

Apparantly Oskar Baker's not ready, so who comes in to replace that outside run that Stretch provides? JFK? Tyson?

Hmm.  Given he's been dead for close to 55 years, i'd kinda doubt it!

If he does play sure as hell I hope they don't have a player named Oswald to oppose him !

Toe, actually :-)

Such a bummer. The outside run he brought to the team was just what the doctor ordered, not to mention good for him personally. Disappointed for us and him in equal measure.

Agree. Quoting because none of the buttons fit the bill. Need a 100% option.

really bad luck.  He was good in his first appearance for the year, including hitting up targets from speed which we need him to do.

I really would be looking at the boots the boys wear, unless his foot got stood or something during the game?

It's the guy hiding on the grassy knoll I'd be more concerned about!

Sport can be a very cruel . Not as cruel as life but still cruel.

Billy plays a good game after being overlooked for a season and then injury strikes.

Such bad luck for him.  Puts in his best game for the Dees, then this.

Hope he hasn't been playing with a 'hot spot' ala Tom Mc early this year...

We have a bit of experience treating foot injuries.  So hope he is up and about quickly.

Edit.  Just read the Training thread and it seems he is out for the year ?

Ironic.... AVB comes back the same week little Billy exits.  stress fractures our common theme lately.

That's not true, he's alive in Brazil with Hitler and then the real Paul McCartney was killed in a car accident and  Elvis actually disappeared off the coast of Portsea and 9/11 was  an inside job . Ask Dieter.

I wonder if the drought conditions have had an impact.

I'm in Sth Gippsland and noticed the long grass has browned off and died back.   No need to slash and mow.

The lack of water on the ground is effecting many things.  I'm sure it would be as dry in Melbourne... and Gosch's.

Lets have to paddock watered, to soften it up a bit.

Shocking timing for Billy, really looked the part on the weekend and added something we dont have much of. There needs to be an inquiry into foot problems at our club.

Mostly in the mouth !

This really sucks Billy's been one of my favorite players since he joined the club. Has been building really nicely and starting adding some strength and size. I thought he played really well last week and was looking forward to him in our best 22 for the rest of the season and beyond.

We all know how professional he is and will rehab accordingly. I have no doubt he will be knocking on the door next season when fit. He is a future gun for the this club. Best wishes Billy.

Been quite damp of late actually in melb, was dry over summer though

Surface soil moisture may only be the top 1cm?

Someone should check down there to see how firm the ground is at Gosch's, someone take a spade down there to check how far the moisture has penetrated the soil surface.

I know billy has been playing mostly at Casey;  I doubt Casey Fields is rock hard ???

I don’t believe it’s the little toe. It must be the fifth metatarsal. The little toe wouldn’t need time off.

ah, the big little toe.

What a bummer with Billy...   just when the side needs some toe,  he's out of it.

Probably isn't the training regime that caused the injury, was probably bitten on the toe by petracca's f'king dog!

ground hardness, appropriate boots/runners/inserts, running techniques, load management, luck all to blame. most of these are able to be changed.

I had an inkling that our down patch a couple of weeks ago might be due to increased training load as a lead in to the last part of the season. overload injury pretty much confirms it.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
