The best 25 AFL players under 25: Carlton’s Patrick Cripps ahead of GWS jet Josh Kelly

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/the-best-25-afl-players-under-25-carltons-patrick-cripps-ahead-of-gws-jet-josh-kelly/news-story/93d9f6ae59654be8ff8e645ab1a586c0

...and Jack Viney doesn't even get a mention.

Criteria was " They have to be under 25 right now"  and " it is based on what they have produced this year and in recent seasons, not what they might produce in the future."

How Jack Viney doesn't make this list I can only think is an oversight.  My view is that he sits quite comfortably top five, if not top three.

Whilst Jack hasn't yet again reached his pulsating best again in 2018, I've actually been impressed with the level of output and impact he has made in his handful of games to date off the back of an interrupted, injury plagued preseason.  Think he is building nicely and full expect him explode in comming weeks.  ...come on Jack - tear the Pies a new one!

You know the article is a joke when they've got Jordan De Goey, who is living off a couple of bags of goals this year, at #14.

Viney is clearly an oversight with him missing most of this year so far.  He is easily in the Top 25.

Edit - just realised they also have Tim Kelly in at #25.  The fact that he is there is even further proof that it's an oversight.  No self-respecting journalist could have him there deliberately ahead of Viney.

Probably done by the same person that didn’t list Gawn in the top 5 Ruckmen in the competition.

Clearly an oversight, he’s taken one game to find his feet an he’s off and running again. Co-captain and out and out gun, he’s top 5 of that list for sure.

Interesting thing I read from that article is Gus is out of contract, given he’s having an awesome season since returning to the seniors we’d want his signature sorted.

But guess what?  Very soon the tables will turn, and all of this will be fuel to my indignant (and perhaps partly alcohol fuelled) “go [censored] yourself” to all of these idiots.

Also have to remember that they need to fit in one idiot from each of the ‘big clubs’ to make readers of the Herald Sun feel OK about their team’s [censored] performance over their large cup of chino.

My “Go [censored] yourself” is going to be so loud when we finally get a flag...

What about Petracca??

What about McDonald??

What a joke this list is.

You're right, but at the end of the day you can't fit everyone in.

The only reason the Viney omission annoys me is that he has clearly been a gun player for years now.  He hasn't popped up this year, or only had one good season.  He's been excellent for a long period of time.  You could argue McDonald has as well.  Petracca has been less consistent so I could understand him missing out.

Regardless, we all know that we have some serious talent in the Under 25 bracket who are going to drive us forward to success for years to come!

I agree with this. But Petracca has been better than De Goey up until this point, yethe is listed at #14.

I don't know why I'm even getting worried about this, it is meaningless anyway haha.

Who cares what moron journos think.

Would you rather have the best crop of under 25 talent in the league, or a paragraph in the story about a young player going alright for you in an overall mediocre squad, in the story to add “balance”?

Our footy does the talking now.

Toby McLean and Tim Kelly ahead of Viney and Petracca.

  lol

Nice little spur along for our boys.

I hope they get a bit p155ed off about it.

At least Bontempelli isn't in the top 3. How everyone rates him as a gun is beyond me. I'd take nearly every player on the list in front of him.

The only thing I can think of when Goodwin says it. Its even given me an excuse to get back into some straight edge and hardcore on spotify again!

Our young players are so good we could probably have our own list of 10 under 25.

They won't see us coming because they aren't paying enough attention.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
