Thinking about heading to watch the Blues take on Essendon at the MCG.

Sure to be a free seat or two.

Problem is I'm not sure who to barrack for and neither team has a drop dead star playing that one can watch.

Would be a pity if the Bombers play the Blues into some form before our game next week.... (why am I already fearing a repeat of round 23 next week).

Let's not worry about the bombers playing Carlton into form. I hope with every fibre of my being that Carlton destroy Essendon.

Agree with you DA. He is a dumb footballer. Physical talent but very low footy smarts.

Parker was great last night.

32,700 there last night

Our game against the Swans - the Bugg punch match - got 15k more than that?

Where are Hawthorn’s 70k members?

It was something like -20 deg though....:)

the irony is that it doesn't really matter in the sense that they have all purchased their season reserve seats.

At the Hawthorn v MFC match the crowd was only 41k but the AFL section was almost halved from its usual size because of all the Hawthorn reserved seat holders.

Max of 12.3, low of 7.1 on June 30, 2017 according to the BOM

Was it THAT much cooler last night? I personally doubt it...I think Hawks are just fair-weather supporters...I guess that happens with sustained September success...sigh

Interesting comments by Clarkson:

Clarkson was left to lament wasted opportunities after the Hawks won a lopsided inside 50 count 62-39.

But the coach also bristled at perceived injustices in the way off-the-ball blocking free kicks in the Hawks’ attacking 50 were paid.

"In the last quarter we go inside 50, (Jarryd) Roughead takes a mark and they pay a free kick (against us) for a block,” Clarkson said.

“Sydney block better than any other team in the competition in their back end for (Heath) Grundy and (Dane) Rampe to take those marks.

“One minute later that ball goes to the top of the goal square to Rampe, Grundy and Roughead and no block is paid.

“Why? ‘It’s at the top of the goal square ... I’m not going to pay that free kick’.

“So those swings and roundabouts can affect the margin of the game sometimes, and we didn’t get them.

“They’re very sophisticated with the way that they defend, but at different stages they’re getting away with blue murder too.”

I normally don't both with any media but whilst checking scores etc i was tempted sufficiently to have a look at that. This bloke , Clarko, is a sharp as they come. I think he's right for highlighting the disparity. He doesn't i think, expect anything as a result. He actually suggests it's up to him ( HAWKS) to find better ways forward. Im  sure they will. They seem able to adjust in a qtr where it takes us two games...,they rebuild over an off season and half adozen games...when its still a work in progress for us after 5 years.

That bite that wa@ker Sicily on the ass, he was very lose in the last 5 mins, free swans all over the place in the  forward 50 while he was guarding grass, he is getting ahead of himself, don't be surprised when he goes backwards, also he is a ducker,

Carlton. I don't want them to come in winless against us.

the glorious thing is that a win against Carlton by a small margin will be seen by the Bomber supporters as almost a loss while still depressing the Carlton crew. Not sure what a draw would do for the respective phsyches?

God I fear a round 23 repeat next week.

Wow did anyone check out the score for GC and Brisbane in the NEAFL?  12.24 (96) to 0.4 (4). GC did not score a goal. Seriously this is meant to be there reserves side. What hope of Gc got when there players arent developing. They had 11 senior players in that team.

anyway here is hoping for another bad bombers 3rd quarter.

Happier for Blues to win by apoint.

Unlikely to succeed two weeks running...and Bombers distraught...win-win

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
