Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

I certainly wouldn't have brought Lewis back without a game at Casey given his recent poor performances

Lewis played 4 games, one with a broken hand/finger. In the other 3, he was twice named amongst the best.

As for Pedersen, he's had one decent game in the VFL, to go along with his average games in the VFL and 2 poor games in the firsts.

You see what you want to see, and ignore what you don't.

Happy with the changes. T.Mac is a massive in.

Wagner out is a good thing.

Hannan was a bit lucky IMO, I thought this would be a game that would suit Jeffy.

Great to see 2 young guns in Spargo and Fritsch working together in the forward line.

Despite the gallows marching this week I'm really excited about this week

Strangely enough since Roos entered stage right been way more engaged with footy generally including enough to watch Anzac Day (wife and in laws all mad pies - they didn't disclose on pre relationship assessment form). Might be a symptom of moving 1800 km north of Melb though

We’ve got some speed and marking targets in the forward line.

I’m now confident we can win this weekend.

Stoked T Mac is back.

But also surprised as he's only fully trained for 1 week or so.

Will they play Hogan, Weid and T Mac up forward at the one time?

Hogan and T. Mac both quite mobile

Very happy with ins this week.

Hopefully Jeffy can work on a few things and be back soon enough.

More drastic than I anticipated, but that’s the fun of being a rank amateur.

Excited about Spargo’s debut and the return of TMac. Curious to see how he affects our movement forward if at all.

Looking forward to this now.

I'm interested to see how we fit Hogan, T Mac and Weideman into our forward line.  I can't imagine they'll throw T Mac down back, so you would assume that with Trac out they may give Hogan more midfield minutes and have Tom and Sam up forward.

I agree re: Spargo's debut as I believe he brings some real pace and guile to the side, something we don't have enough of.

Hope Garlett stays at Casey until he plays well out there in the driving rain on a freezing day.

It's no coincidence that he hasn't got anywhere near it against good sides in the rain and dew. He's the definition of not being able to trust Melbourne in big games and we're playing one short unless conditions are perfect and/or pressure is low.

Fingers crossed Spargo can go past him quickly .

Happy with the outs - add Trac and Viney at the expense of Harmes and ANB and that is about as good as it gets for us.

Right with ya there. I like the team and add as you said in Viney and Trac we will be OK.

Good point re: Garlett.  In our three big games (Geelong, Hawthorn and Richmond) he has gone missing in a big way.  He was able to beat up the Lions in Round 2 but that's what he should be doing.  He deserves a few weeks back at Casey and I'm glad that Goodwin has shown that he has the balls to do it.

Interesting that our two biggest goal kickers in a game this year have been dropped and both deserve it. Other than 1 good game each, they have been putrid.

Agree but i imagine Hogan will spend more time on ball otherwise we look top heavy.

He will be needed as a bull in the midfield now we are without Trac

Was something that crossed my thinking .

Interesting roll of the dice none the less.

Would be intersesting to see the roles of Hogan/T.Mac/Weed/Lever this week.Who will be the 2nd ruck? Will Gawn play in defence for part of the match.  Where will Spargo play? Lots of interest but if we lose what's next?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
