Agree with what you are saying but this is now possibly the most important game for the club this year in front of 85,000.

I don't know if winning this week is the most important thing a high quality close game or a thumping win for us is important though. The next two weeks after Tuesday are really important to win that's why players have been held back.

That said Richmond will fall apart sometime this year hopefully Tuesday

If weid plays ahead of Pedersen has Goody made a blunder again at selection? Only time will tell I guess.

Look I hope he has a great game but this is a big concern if he has a bad game

I’m 50/50 on this. Pederson can be relied on to be at least serviceable but Weed has been a kind of albatross lurking in our big key forward ranks with his slow development. 5 rounds in is about the right time to test him. And Tmac will be back soon and T Smith is lurking also. We need to see if there is any value there and if worth persevering with or destined for the chop at end of season.

If Weed plays I hope for his sake our entry into our 50 is dramatically cleaned up.

Spot on here. We win the ball enough even against the Hawks but just bomb it into forwards who are out of position. Take an extra second, look for a team mate and we will be 50% better team.

I think Tim Smith must be seriously in the frame.. i did hear a little whisper late last week.. didn't play Casey.. can anyone clarify if he is in fact injured?

Just so I'm clear on this, do we have 27 players set aside for this game? Or do we have a bunch of players carrying injuries that haven't been reported?

In either case, the question is why? Other than annoying the supporters, what would you hope to achieve from it?

Vlaustin and Caddy in doubt. Though I suspect the latter will play.

Frost dumped for this week (and possibly forever IMO)

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-04-23/big-demon-defender-out-of-tigers-clash

Cameron Pedersen booted five goals in the VFL on Sunday but won't be picked to play the Tigers.

Thats surprising, a one day break should surely be enough.

I think the match committee have not played certain players in VFL just in case of injuries on Tuesday.

Weed and Stretchy might play Tuesday or be kept for the bumbers game as insurance.

We are a slow team and need all the pace we can get, I don't like this.

Correct we are very slow.

But we can also do without the holding the balls, direct turnovers and lose accountability that Frost brings to the table.

It's a shame he's a poor footballer as he has some great athletic traits.

Just on Billy Stretch, apparently one of the hardest trainers at the club and normally fills a role well when he comes in, I thought he was unlucky to be dropped after Cats' game last year. One thing that puzzles me though, for someone with his speed, why doesn't he take the game on more and run and carry using his pace? Spends a lot of time running around in circles looking for a cheap handball. Is it a confidence issue?

I could see Hunt replacing frost, Stretch replacing Lewis, and T smith replacing Bugg.  We only then need one further change and the Weid is included as well.  Richmond don't have a tall match-up for Frost, and Omac should take Whiner Reiwoldt.  There is a huge list of players that could be considered to come out based on last week's shenannigans to make way for Weid.  Might even be someone like Wagner.

Wagner played yesterday so he is guaranteed to be out!

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
