Lions seem to have had a rough draw to start the year.

- The 4 games so far vs Saints, Demons, Port and Tigers and

- 3 of 4 games intertsteate:  2 trips to Victoria and 1 to Adelaide.

No wonder they've run out of puff.

Would like to see them win a few especially against the teams I really hate (have only moderate dislike for Lions which is the best I can give to any AFL side).

I don't think they're that bad, with talent. So on your post Re the tough draw, I wonder if in another say 6 weeks, IF they will have Regrouped? And win some of those games you mention.

I hope they do.

We were 186 bad!

Weird thing was, the season where 186 happened (2011) wasn't even that bad in the scheme of things - we finished 12th with 8 wins and a draw. It was otherwise looking to be a reasonable development year under Bailey until the club did its best to self-destruct.

It was 2013 where the wheels completely and utterly fell off with two wins at 54%, which as ET said, was Fitzroy like.

Gotta love reliving these great memories.

Very true.

1-8-6 is indelibly written on my soul...:(

...which only a premiership can erase :)

you might get away with that on the Collingwood forum ET but not here on the mensa board with all us Greek and Latin scholars

Kangaroos vs Carlton is on free to air....  geez.

It does not get any more boring and irrelevant than these two minnows playing each other.

I would love to start a thread about the psychology. ...philosophy. ...sociological aspects of afl supporting.

Its interesting the tribal passion we have. Sometimes I wo der if it brings more unhappiness than joy but I guess on the whole it gives me much fun and entertainment.

Its great bonding now with my son which is a new dimension.

Cant imagine not having it or following another team. Cant imagine winning a flag though. Would be awesome.

I know it. Have you ever looked forward so much to what promises to be a lousy game of footy?

It just gets better and better.

Netflix will be the real winner.

The Dogs small forward line seems to have gone to poo.

They should have won that but as they can't seem to fit a leading target within the 30 meter range, they usually have to ping at it off crumbs, spillages and sneaky leads in the forward pocket.

A big CHF or FF would help but their nine year investment is in the Magoos.

For anyone who's interested I can confirm it is a horrible night in Hobart, had to pedal my bike down the hills to get to work otherwise I would have been blown back up them.  Just sitting here listing to the rain belting down on the roof. Shame because yesterday was perfect weather for footy.  Anyhow, should make for an already terrible game to be even worse.

Just need north to get up to get my multi home.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

    TRAINING: Friday 28th February 2025

A couple of Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you their observations from today's training session before the Demons head off to Perth for their final Practice Match. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. One of their last drills were three teams competing in a hard at it, handball game in a small area. Goody

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
