If Jack Trengrove does not get picked up by another AFL Club, is there any chance he could Captain Casey in 2018.

He would be a sensational role model for younger players coming into the game at a higher level.

It would be a pity to lose a person like him from the Demons, although I could fully understand if he wanted to start a new life outside the "Goldfish Bowl "of AFL.

EDIT: As of 3/11/17 Jack Trengove was signed by Port Adelaide as a Delisted Free Agent.

I think Jack will either get picked up or go play for Sturt.

He would walk into the SANFL as a star.

I can’t talk highly enough of him. Another Demon cut down by injury.

Can't see it.

This is a young ambitious man with intelligence and talent to have a very successful career and life.

I think he will move on.

He has played at the highest level and been a Co/ Captain if an AFL side.

I can't see him being content to play with Casey in the VFL or returning to Sturt. He is way too ambitious. The SANFL these days is small time. The clubs are struggling to survive and spectators sparse. Apart from the diehards, the locals are consumed by the successes of the Crows and Port.

I can only see Jack staying in the game if he is drafted by another AFL club and that must be considered unlikely.

First year out of the AFL you  go where the money is. SANFL and WAFL generally pay more than VFL.

I see no reason why the MFC can’t facilitate Jack having a major leadership role at Casey, maybe involving a coaching component. Presuming, if he was AFL ineligible, he could retain the same overall salary package (but outside of the cap) and he would certainly be worth the investment both in a AFL/VFL mentoring role and as a VFL player. I am sure that Casey would appreciate entering their 2018 campaign with their 2017 B&F player on their list.

Very happy he got another gig, would love it if he got back to being a regular AFL player again.

PA club rules must have something about having a Jack Trengove on their playing list at all times.

Good luck to our (former) Jack. Hope he can make a success of his second chance.

Yes really glad Jack got picked up. Two Demon  “Jacks” now at the power.

Port are certainly turning their list over. How many is that now that are new to the club after the season ended?

This really is a good news story. If anyone ever deserved a second chance, it is him.

Hope he kills it too, hell hope he plays a blinder against us (but we win).

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
