Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

FfI dont think any damage would have been done between Goody and Watts. Grown men! Goody is a realist... And there is nothing wrong with that.

I actually think the playing group would have even more respect for Goody now! I liked Goodys B&F speech. BRILLIANT!

If Jack stays or goes he will be thankful in the end. Because I do believe Jack will get the best out of himself from this moment on. This situation would have been a shick to the and a life changing event.

I think the Dees would have been wanting Cats Pick 20 or a decent player. Cats ruled themselves out as there not even close in dealing.

On the other hand, I think the Power are more desperate in getting Jack. Pick 29 wont get it done though. I wouldnt think!

But if they deal Pick 29 and there 2018 2nd round (approx. Pick 34). Trade gets done!

I cant see Jack going to Sydney.

We'll take pick 29 for Watts in a heartbeat.

Gary Buckenera sums it up well in his article on our list.

The Demons are keen to trade Jack Watts but what are they going to get for him? Clubs are smart and know it’s likely Melbourne needs to move Watts to free up space in the salary cap, along with the form issues, to accommodate Lever, so will they be willing to take a bit less in a trade?

If that is the case then I’d keep him. He wants to stay and given it’s a work ethic issue maybe this has been the kick up the backside he needed. Watts is more valuable to Melbourne than a late second or third-round draft pick because that’s all I’d be spending on a 26, turning 27-year-old, forward who is still inconsistent and whose work ethic is questionable.

The highlighted part has been my issue all along

people still thinking he's going to stay? LOL.

We'll accept anything to get him out the door. The club doesn't want him, get it through your minds!

I certainly hope we wont just accept anything. If this isn't all farcical enough it would make a mockery  of it for sure.

It now appears it will be up to Port to satisfy the. club.  I have no idea with what or whom.

I would in reality ( in my gut ) think he , Watts must be gone, but life is odd at times and footy makes for even stranger resolutions.

Likelihood of Jack departing must be very high. Absolute certainty ?    I'm not game

Fwiw it's pretty common knowledge that Melbourne are stretched and will need space next year when several key players will need contract renewals

Such as ? Gawn will probably cost a bit. Trac can anticipate a pay rise. Who else ? The Macs perhaps ?

Jack -‘ Ah listen Simon - I just want someone that will back me in ‘

Simon - ‘Jack , look , Ive been sitting back here watching you do things in patches that only a handful of players in the comp can do , Im not sure I can coach you to do that consistently ‘

Jack - ‘ I know Ive let the club  down in a few areas but Im here to work hard be treated like any other player and i reckon its time we put the gloves on ‘

Simon - ‘what ? ‘

Jack - ‘ Let me show ya Simon , Ive been over to Vines house the last month and learnt a few tricks ‘

Simon - ‘Ok jack ‘

Weird dream last nite .

I cant imagine the club thinking he is worth more than Pick 29 considering the level of apathy we are showing towards him.

Feels like a pointless exercise letting Jack go.

Dunno about us, but it seems it is an issue at one or two of the other clubs looking at Watts

This might be part of any equation as well. We will have already factored in his money.

If we are stretched it is the most over paid list in AFL history.  Our club and players have done nothing since 2006, we have improved but still haven't embarked on a finals campaign for a very long time

Stephen Wells just said on Trade Radio that the Cats are unlikely to be able to do a deal for Jack Watts to come to Geelong.

So why in the world did they bother with a tour and showing some interest in him?  Or are the Cats being tight with what they have?  Either way, sounds more and more like Jack will head to Port Adelaide.

Because they are a professional club and you never know what might eventuate. Unlike our 'old' club that didn't bother to interview Dustin Martin.

I'm pretty sure we are well run and would have our salary cap under control.  If this is true however and we have allowed ourselves to get into salary cap trouble then my confidence in the Club just nose-dived somewhat

he doesnt care who plays for the Dees once they give 100%

he finds all the hysteria in this thread amusing and looks down his nose at us fools.

but he is crying on the inside

Nearly right, have opinions on players, don't always share them, but in this case

Watts, agree with FD , for whatever reason is not where he should be in terms of consistency of performance after 9 years and can understand where Goody is coming from

If he goes, he goes, 22 make a team, support whoever is on the field in that 22 representing the Red and Blue

I find most threads amusing, some of the unintended hilarity is breathtaking

Not cheap. We need a bit of wriggle room.

I'd take pick 29 for Watts. Could draft a very good player still.

Strangely Jack has been at the club  prior to any of them. Jack's remuneration  cant be a surprise.

If he's being pushed out for cap space it makes an absolute lie of everything said to date by the club.

There's much we still dont know

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
