Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

And yet, in our biggest game in 11 years - our resident soft [censored] was one of the few to stand up.

Focusing on one game, and one quarter of that game, isn't very analytical. How did he perform against North and the Giants a few weeks earlier? How has he performed over the last few years? Over the course of his career?

This is what it’s all about

Goodwin doesn’t care about Draft Picks

he backs himself to Coach like Bellamey (long term)

i thought this last summer when Watts was disciplined.

Goodwin couldn’t care whether Jack was a number 1 draft pick

Maybe we are after Trengove as well. Even though he is a RFA, perhaps trading Watts will see PA not match an offer that they could reasonably match.

Bring in Trengove and Lever and it allows TMAC to play as a more permanent forward (and probably do just as good a job as Watts (minus the good disposal). Trengove could also be ruck relief to allow Max some time to rest.

Then go after Gaff for that good delivery into the forward line.

I could more than handle the loss of Watts plus picks and minor players if it meant we brought in Lever and Trengove to sure up the backline (which did leak a fair bit this year), TMAC going to FF to partner Hogan (he has a tank and is a far better contested mark than Watts can ever be) and Gaff coming in to give us run and good disposal.

Trangove for watts would be a good trade

If we take our red and blue glasses off and consider what Watts has done in his 8 years at the club, he isn't worth a whole lot more to be honest.

I'd rather keep Jack, believe it or not, but I think it's more so because I don't want to see him succeed elsewhere.  The problem is that I don't think clubs will be falling over themselves to trade for him, and for that reason we probably need to take the best available offer if we've decided as a club to move on from him.

60 goals in the last 2 years... not much???

No shiz, Dr.

But that game is why we are having a major [censored] over the last month and more relevant than the pre-Roos era footy. Ie. the course of his career.

Up until he did his hammy, his career trajectory was fine.

Is that relevant?

He was a top five player last year and was tracking really well this year as well until the injury, we will miss his skills and versatility.

There has to be more to this than what we know

It doesn’t make sense. For all his faults Watts is very versatile.

To get rid of him is a big risk unless plan B is already in place

Jack is immensely popular with sponsors and supporters so surely the decision can't be made by a rookie coach.

Who makes the final call:  List Management Committee? Mahoney? Jackson? The Board?

At some clubs certain trades have to be approved by the Board. For Jack the decision may not go that high but the impact on the club overall requires a bit of due diligence to ensure he is being 'kicked out' for the right reasons.  And, not just because a rookie coach is frustrated with him and wants to make an example of him.

I'm not a JW fan... but he is worth a lot more than a previous pick 38 who has played 4 games and is uncontracted and what pick 40?

Adelaide also has the best captain in the league and a great leadership group. Tex is a lad who can have fun but is as selfless as anyone out on the field. We've had an uncommunicative, angry and downtrodden midfielder who doesn't posses any leadership qualities who just bombs the ball in. Then we now also have a young kid who just loves a tough ball get and plays 16hrs of pc games on his days off.

I can't see this club going anywhere until we have a proper leader. Jettisoning guys who don't fit the "serious persona" won't get us anywhere.

You know what?  You are probably right, but we aren't going to get full value here.  We're the ones moving him on, not the other way around.  If he goes to Port then we're likely getting Pick 29 back, which to me is not a whole lot different than Balic and a third rounder.  At least Balic has been in the system a few years and will be ready to go come pre-season.

Either way, at that price above I'd much rather keep Jack, but it looks unlikely that it will happen.

How long is this club going to unceremoniously oust its loyal players:  Junior, Greene, Bruce, Grimes, Dunne, Trengove and now probably Watts.

I'm not suggesting we keep under performing players.

But I'm over rookie coaches, who have no affinity or historical connection or love of our club dumping much loved, loyal players because they want 'to make their mark' or 'make a statement'.

Mfc motto - give us your youth, suffer the injuries and when we get a new coach he gets out his broom and sweeps you out the door.

Not a good look for mfc.

I am kind of torn in all this. I don’t like the idea of Wattsy being booted out.

But i won’t miss the one armed attempted tackles either.

A few TV remote controls have been smashed over the journey...

there is more to play out in this one i believe....

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
